As you may notice from my sig, my wife and I are wanting to build our dream home. We actually bought land 2 -1/2 years ago, but a combination of events led us to decide to not build there, so after we cleared up a title discrepancy, we put that land on the market. This is after we sold our home and moved into a rental that we thought we would be in for 6 months, which we have now lived in for almost 18 months. Anyway, as you can imagine, this is not the best market to sell, especially unimproved land. So it has been sitting there, without anyone even looking at it (as far as we know), since February. I showed a nice couple from out of state around the property boundaries in October, but nothing seemed to really happen there since. And we sit, cooling our heels in our rental.
Until, lo and behold, the folks from out of state decide (him) to buy the land as a Christmas gift for the wife. It turns out to be a FANTASTIC New Year's gift to us as well, as now we can find some new land to build on and get our dream home underway!! We closed today, and we are both ecstatic, anticipating getting our new home built this year. The only down side is that there is not a lot of vacant land on the market here, because of the down real estate market and the time of year, but still, we are MOVING AHEAD instead of running in place, which is what it has felt like these last many months.
All the gear I have stored in my office is finally going to get a home! YIPPEE!!! We've got to go dig up St Joseph tomorrow, and then we'll drive around and look at some potential lots to build on. We can't wait! WOOT!!! Wish us luck. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Congratulations! Some family members went down that road in Winter Park a couple of years ago (on the Pole Creek Golf Club links). It's a nice house, and their project turned out very well for them. Good luck with your project!Alea jacta est!
