Monitor 40's on 90w rms?
I sent an email to Polk asking this but have yet to get a response so I figured I'd bring it here..
I have a Samson Servo-260 studio amp (90w rms at 8 ohm per channel.) and I'm looking for a nice set of speakers to run with it. I've seen the Monitor 40's for a decent price online but am not sure if the power rating is peak or rms, looking on the forum I've read it's both. o.O
I'm open to suggestions on other speaker sets in the $150-200 range also, the setup will be used for my PC.

90 watts @ 8 ohms is plenty of power for any of POLKS 8 ohm bookshelf speakers

But will i have to worry about blowing them considering it's 90w rms?

I have no experience with the amp you have but I can tell you 90 watts of clean power will be more than enough.

They'll be fine. The Monitor 40's are rated for up to 125 watts continuous power. The nirvana inducer-

I ran Monitor 50s (same drivers as 40s, I think) and 30s (lower power rating than 40s) with 200 wpc with no ill effects.
Bear in mind you aren't feeding the speakers 200 watts or 90 watts or whatever it is, unless you turn the volume all the way up. And long before you turn the volume all the way up, it will be obvious that bad things are happening, either to the speakers or to your ears, so you'll turn it down.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong about any of this. -

You're right. That 90 watts RMS isn't really putting out 90 watts full time. It's capable of putting out 90 watts continuous, but for the most part it's probably only really going to be putting out like 40-50 watts continuously. The nirvana inducer-
