.... for all these stupid images to load. If there any way that the forums could be made to load faster on those of us who putter along on dialup? You have to admit there are an excessive amount of images where text could do just as well. Anyway, it's getting to the point where I'm not coming here as much 'cause it just takes too damn long . Thanks,

Where I live I can't get broadband or dsl and have to slug around with dialup.
What you can do instead of going to www.polkaudio.com is simply use the following when logging in
http//clubpolk.polkaudio.com
Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply, hbomb, but I'm talking about the forums themselves. I come straight into the main listing via a bookmark, so it's all the images on the forums themselves that are slowing me down...Ludicrous gibs!

Agreed.
The page is just a tad image-intensive. All those damn buttons.
I have cable modem, and STILL have to w a i t .
Give War A Chance -
1 meg dsl - everything is instant. Gave up 56k dialup about 3 months ago. I could not take it. Now I can download a song in under a minute. Never though surfing the internet could be this fast. But then there is that $40 bucks a month thing.
-
I quit the dial up thing about 2 years ago and refuse to EVER go back........If you have a cable modem and you're waiting, there are problems........each page should completely load in under 5-10 seconds, most of the time under 5.......comment comment comment comment. bitchy.

love the cabble modem. i first started on alo with a 28.8 when that as top of the line around 92. after you go high speed you never go back. ps the wow 20 a month thing is cheap and good. if i wernt a banwith hog i would go for it.

Loads in 6 seconds.
Not fast enough.
Guess I'm just impatient.

I dumped AO-Hell about 7 months ago for cable. I'll never go back to dialup!
1 megabit per second RULES! My pages load fast! The 40 bucks a month is well worth it. A friend of mine has Comcast Pro. He has download speeds of 3 megabits per second! 90 bucks a month is a little too steep for me! His company pays for it. DAMN!!!

Sure. Why don't you turn off image display in your browser? I have it turned off right now. All the buttons have alternate text versions which display, so you can still easily navigate. Everything still works, just faster. -
This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. This page is nothing but a bunch of small gif images.
-
Well, I'm sorry if you don't get what I'm talking about, but the main listing for Off Topic is 60k... on a dialup going through a local ISP on bad phone lines it takes at least 15 seconds to load.

i love cable motem, but some of you cant get it where you live, to bad, if you had it you wont go back to dialup. just move.. rt-7 mains
rt-20p surounds
cs-400i front center
cs-350 ls rear center
2 energy take 5, efects
2- psw-650 , subs
1- 15" audiosource sub
lets all go to the next ces. -
Can't get DSL. Got Direct TV - could be on your way.
Want faster speed - upgrade. Web sites are going to continue getting more complex. -
not trying to be rude, but check out AOL broadband, MSN broadband, Roadrunner, DSL. When you are tired of waiting.....click that big red X in ur browser, so when the text loads.....press the x and work off the images, or as someone else said - turn off image display. Thats all u can reallllllllllllllly doDamn you all, damn you all to hell.......
I promised myself
No more speakers. None. Nada. And then you posted this!!!!
Damn you all! - ATC -
And it is very inexpensive when the parents are paying the bills.
Hey - throw on some paysites - they'll never know.;) -
yeah i know...gotta love to not have bills. thats pretty much why I own what I own. I want it know instead of later. Bills are later. LOL!Damn you all, damn you all to hell.......

Unfortunately, I can't GET broadband.... neither DSL nor Cable. I live that far away from everything. Plus, I'd get stuck paying for it.

You must have a crap connection.......When I'm sitting in the airport and connected to this site via my cell phone (a miserable 11k baud), it loads in under 15 seconds.......comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -
