My NY Giants aren't looking too good lately...

They got owned by Philly last week, and they're getting owned by Dallas tonight.

The Giants are my team in the NFC, but I think right now Dallas is the better team, when they can get out of their own way. It's hard for me to say that, because I hate the Cowboys emensely, but I just think they've got too much talent. They key for them is getting all that talent to perform well at once. When everyone is on the same page, I don't think there's a better team in the NFC.

I'll be eating crow at work tomorrow for sure. The one consolation to me though, is that I know no matter what happens the Cowboys will find a way to either miss the playoffs (not likely) or blow it somewhere along the line and miss the big game.

Go Giants! Go Colts! (by the way Indy only beat Detroit by 10 points today, that can't be a good sign)

The Giants had one of those most common mistakes in sports - they peaked too early.

Another common mistake - they had their star WR shoot himself in the leg.

No, the Giants have everything all sewn up for the season. They don't have to put any effort in until the playoffs.

That game last night was a defensive battle but, the Giants weren't producing on offense. They just weren't playing up to the level we've seen for the past 10 weeks. At least it didn't seem that way to me. Dallas was playing well and for once Romo didn't make a billion mistakes. But, even though the Cowboys played well, if the Giants weren't playing their A game then it's kind of an empty win.

But, if I'm wrong and the Giants were playing like it mattered then I think we saw the "team" that everybody has been looking for, the team that can "stop the Giants" because they certainly did it last night. I think Eli is going see that number 94 in his dreams though! Ware had his number dialed in all night long and Bradie James and Greg Ellis were following Ware's lead. I think that was the most Manning has been pressured all season. The Cowboys defense is under-rated I think.

I didn't really get the sense that they gave a damn about the outcome last night - they had several guys out that I think could have played if this were a do or die situation.

I also don't know that they care too much about what happens with Carolina this week. I think worst case scenario is they end up finishing second in the conference, with a first round bye and having to go to Carolina for the conference game, in which case I'd imagine they'd almost rather play there than at home anyway because of the weather.

I mean, I'm sure they want to win every game, and they showed their character with how they played the patriots at the end of the year last year when it didn't count. I think Bob's probably right, they peaked too early. That's not to say they can't peak again, but in this sport that doesn't happen alot.

    ding ding.....winnah LOL

Assimilated, cmon man, if your a Giants fan, you have to be aware of their time honored and storied tradition of backing into the playoffs. If I were a Giants fan, I would be more worried about the postseason if they actually won (joking.....and serious, all at the same time)

History has shown that teams that wrap it up early and mail it in the last few weeks of the regular season tend to lose something going into the playoffs. Indy got a lot of slack for doing this 3-4 years ago and basically petering out when teh playoffs came around.

Yep, when they won the super bowl a couple years ago they were in worse shape coming into the playoffs than the year before before when they hit that 13-0 stretch.

Giants vs Panthers this week should be a killer game with major playoff weight.
I live in Panther country, and we are very exited.
But much respect to the Giants.

Depending on what happens on Monday Night Football tonight, Philly at Dallas is going to be a big deal too.

What the deal looks like now is if NY loses to Carolina and Dallas stomps on the Ravens, all Philly has to do is beat Cleveland and then the Dallas game is a do or die for them for a wild card berth. Philly could still do it. The odds are against them just in the fact that so much has to happen for them to be in it but they could get there. They aren't going anywhere in the playoffs but they could get there.
