I was just talking to a guy at work who went that route on a Chrysler 300. He was talking about how he did the math and in the long run, even though it's just numbers and no real money exchanged hands, he's actually PAYING Chrysler about $1.63 per gallon of gas if he uses the card.

Granted if gas goes back up, he's golden again but right now, he's got an "incentive" to buy a Chrysler car that ain't worth squat. The gas prices being low and great for everyone except those people who have those incentives.

That's why you take the cash discount up front, instead of in the rear.

We bought a Chrysler once. Won't make that mistake again, gas incentive, or not.

The 50% depreciation in 3 years might be hard to swallow as well.

Ya, they have never been my favorite cars. The classic ones are fine, but they haven't really come out with anything ground breaking. Ever since the Town and Country went from a convertible to a minivan, you knew things were headed in the wrong direction...

Shut up you frickin' tool! Does EVERY post you make have to be laced with some hot stick to poke at people just to breed controversy and incite riot?

The Charger is the wife's favorite car.
If she had her way, instead of a truck I'd end up with the
Mountaineer, and she'd get the new car.
In 27 years of being together, She always gets
the new vehicle. I assume Chrysler has a new promotion planned?

John, I'm not wanting to get into it with you but damn. Take a chill pill man. Step back from the computer and take ten deep breaths [recommended]. To me, he stated an opinion based upon his experience. Seems fair enough to me. Now normally I might have agreed with you and there may be another thread that I'm not aware of that might have led up to this, but with what he said.....WTF?

With today's economy, there's enough stress going around already. ;)

A lot of people similarly got burned with oil contracts this year, "locking in" their heating oil prices at 3.99 or whatever, and it's down to 2.39 now. Ouch.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

I thought it was funny too. The inadvertent play on words gets me every time. Kind of like when I was buying my first suit in high school and my mom makes the comment, "You know, I have never been a double-breasted kind of person." Sometimes you just can't help but laugh!

Back to the thread though....at least he didn't get 100 shares of Ford stock like some places are advertising around here as an incentive.

in today's economy it's never good to get yourself locked into any long term contract.. certainly nothing more than a year at most if you can avoid it.

No idea, but after having a Chrysler Laser and a Jeep Cherokee (and both being horribly unreliable), I'm in the same boat with Chrysler. Wouldn't touch their vehicles with a 20 foot pole now.

I guess its the whole "your opinion differs from someone elses"=bad?

Just another reason not to by a Chrysler Product.

At least the idea was sound up until the point prices dropped on gas.

Jeep offered 2.99 per gallon on new vehicles as well. I don't believe that they gambled that gas would go back down, I think they knew this would happen. I know there are a lot of factors at play here, but say it went up to $5 or $6 like some were saying, they would have lost their rear end on the deal. I think they knew they were not going to lose in the long run.
