it appears that the first one is previous generation (older model) version than the latter. I am assuming the latter one has higher contrast ratio and capable of 120Hz motion. why, are you buying one?
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

My 36" Mitsubishi tube console crapped out. I need a TV for the bedroom and Fred Myers has the LN32A450 for $599.

If you get one an LNT3253H, get an extended warranty. They have a great picture, but I have had several problems with mine. I believe the LN32A450 has 3 HDMI inputs and is the newer of the two models. The newer LN32A450's also are 1080p.

We got a LNT3253H for our bedroom; the main board had to be replaced (twice!) before it was useable.

Now that it's working for us, it's really a nice set and no problems since...

CNET seemed to like the A450 pretty well in its review.

No, it is 720p. The 32a550 is 1080p.

$599 sounds like a pretty good deal, even with an extend warranty. I wouldn't get 720p, but not every cares about that either.

You are correct. I was looking under "Step Up Features" under model 32a450 and misinterpreted what it was saying. The 32a550 is the new model, which is 1080p. I stand corrected. Thanks.

On a 32" screen 720p will be fine, unless he sits 2 feet away.

Nope, more like 6'-10' depending on which way we are laying. I picked it up today and just have it connected via the coax from the DirectTV receiver. Good picture, but it certainly doesn't compare to my 42" Panny plasma, which is awesome. It will do for the bedroom anyway.
