Right now, as I type this, the Blue Angels are doing flybys in their F18s over the office. The Canadian Snowbirds are here as well. Can't wait for the big show this weekend....

San Francisco Fleet Week 2008

Edit: The Blue Angels just blew by at very low altitude. LOUD

Pictured: Blue Angels (barely) over San Francisco Bay as it pass by San Francisco Fire Department fire boat, Phoenix.

I happen to be visiting SF on Fleet Week a few years ago. The Blue Angels doing their thing over the water and circling around the buildings on the hills around the bay was out of this world.

Does the Navy still have Treasure Island going out there, or did it finally sink ?

Cool shot of that Blue Angel, btw.

Thanks to a lifelong friend at United Airlines, this was my closest experience to the U.S. NAVY Blue Angels.

These pilots returned to SFO after an hour of ruling the sky only to strike a pose.

Back in the '80's: Fleet Week SEAL rope'a'dope landings via helicopters and fast NAVY patrol boat rides were common.

My afternoon and this post is in honor of Chief James Freeburger (U.S. NAVY retired) RIP

    Never forget 9/11

Wow, awesome pics! They need to get blue caps though that match the blue flightsuits.

Blue caps wouldn't be part of the uniform(against regs), nice try though.:)

Those are awesome pics!! Looks like you had a great time, I always missed Fleet week when I was in the Navy.

Do all Navy pilots wear those blue flightsuits? If not, then they were designed specifically for the BA! If that is the case, then they can make an exception for the caps as well!:D

To tell you the truth, I don't really know, but don't think soo. Those uniforms look specific to the Blue Angels. The covers are just something you usually don't mess with.

The BA "buzzed" The City (what we call San Francisco here in the Bay Area) yesterday in the afternoon. Quite a sight when they're going full speed right over your head, at a couple of thousand feet and in formation, while one's walking down the street (I was in the Richmond District of SF). Later in the afternoon, the BA cargo plane did the same.

    Thanks for sharing the pics!!

Special boutique flight suits, and form-fitted at that. Normal naval aviators wear olive drab or sand colored flight suits just like everybody else. Baggy, like ALMOST everybody else.
