Can I put a set of Peerless tweets in my 10B's?

I wanted to replace my Monitor 10B tweeters which are the SL-2000 with a set of Peerless tweeters with the hole in the middle. Will that be O.K.? Is the crossover frequency correct? Thanks to all who will help in advance.:)

Welcome to the forum
I have used the Peerless in my SDA 2a's with great results and I did'nt have to modify the opening at all. The x-over frequency is probably not a perfect match but probably not far off either. You should check out the schematic post here and see where the caps and resistors differ.
If you have to modify the opening at all I do not think that would be wise. You may be best served by purchasing a pair of RDO-194's from Polk for about $104. which is a direct replacement/upgrade from the 2000's.
If the Peerless fit easily I'd give it a try and also order a pair of RDO's. Once you get the RDO's you can do a compairson and share your thoughts with us. You can always re-sell the RDO's here if for some odd reason you don't like them.
By the way where are you from?

Thanks. I have the Peerless in my 10A, just wanted to make sure it is O.K. for the 10B. I will eventually buy the replacements from Polk when I get the extra cash.

You were correct, it would take a modification. They did not fit. Could mod them, but think I will take your advice and get the new ones from Polk. Thanks a bunch.

You should be much happier with the new ones from Polk. The SL1000 and Peerless can be swapped but neither is a drop in for the later SL2000 or RD-0194.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Thanks for the info. Do you like the SL-1000?

Hi, how much difference is there in the recess, that wont allow the peerless to fit ? perimeter or depth or both ? If you know someone that's good with a router it shouldn't take too much to modify the openings. If you need it, I could send you a peerless faceplate that you can use as a template to mark out the new perimeter, after that, if you're careful a utility knife and a sharp chisel would do the trick ! Good luck whichever way you go !:)Geoff
If you want to sell the Peerless, I'd be interested in them. -
The recess is bigger, not smaller.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

A couple ppl have used the router idea to modify the older ones so it's an honest suggestion GBD.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Doro, is it a bad thing sound wise if the tweeter doesn't extend to the edge of the larger recess, or is it a matter of appearance? Would a carefully applied fill of black silicone work OK ?Geoff

I would make a wood template for the hole and mount the tweeter on the template. Use some gasket tape for it and that should let you play around. I don't think caulking the opening is a good idea.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers?
