Got the floor epoxy down this weekend, see the before and after pics. Pic 3 isn't very accurate, the floor has more of a blue cast to it, like the 2nd pic. I used Behr premium 2-part epoxy:

Dont forget the carbon monoxide detector for that room....could be your best investment in gear by farThe first rule of Fight Club is you don't talk about Fight Club

Are the curtains a permanent feature for this room? I was thinking of a similar separator for my basement.

Yep, they do the trick. I thought about framing some walls--but I can't justify the work/expense. The 70's mancave is basically a "duck-out" room when weather gets bad on the patio; and for winter time.
One of my main goals with this room is to NOT make it look too contrived. I want it to look like a 15yr old had to scrounge the basement to complete it. I don't want it to look like a livingroom of the 70's. The curtains help portray that look, as well as the mis-match furniture that will be in there. If everything matches/coordinates--it won't look right. Aside from the TV/DVD, nothing else in the room will be anything you could have purchased after 1979--that's the goal.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -
Looks great, I wish I could do that with my Garage, but have to keep the vintage caddy out of the elements

NIce job overall.
If I may ask, how difficult is it to work with that epoxy stuff *? I am thinking of
doing part of my basement/workshop area with it, as well as the garage. Cost/sq.ft?
Any info appreciated!
Harry
* No affil. So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

I used Behr premium 2-part epoxy (silver/gray) from home depot. It was $69 per kit. 1 kit will do a 1 car garage easily (250 sq ft). We have a 2 1/2 car garage (apprx 550 sq ft) and I bought 3 kits, but only used 2 1/4 kits. This particular brand has an 8-hour hardening time, so you don't need to rush.
-strip prep the floor (etch with acid if necessary, this comes in the kit)
-let the floor dry completely
-tape off your base boards
-have 1 person do the trim, while you roll the epoxy
-roll about a 3x3 section then drop the paint chips (if you want to use them)
-dries to the touch in about 7-8 hrs, light foot traffic after 12hrs, give it 36hrs before pulling cars on it
After the prep work, it took us about 3.5 hrs to get the floor painted.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -
Many thanks for the info, as well as relating your experience with it.
Maybe I'll post pics when I'm done (prob. 3 or 4 months from now ).So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

No problem; if it hadn't been 95 degrees Saturday, doing the floor wouldn't have been so bad.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

Yep--not very long, but we can get in the low 20's. Nights here can very chilly in spring/fall/winter. Keep in mind we're at 4800 ft elevation--Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

Thanks dude. My Pioneer HPM 40 speakers arrived yesterday, they look excellent! Can't believe a 30 yr old speaker could still look this good.
I'll hold all other pics until she's complete. Stay tuned...Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2
