I got this link in an email and would love to hear some comments on these systems. For one thing, I am wondering if anyone really buys these systems for their homes:

Some of them look really impressive but the prices are unbelievable. No one should have to spend more money on a speaker system than they would spend on a home or a yacht.

I am sure people do buy them, but they are in a completely different class than I am, thats for sure. I would love to have that kind of disposable income to blow on a hobby though.....

BTW - for the record, I am sure none of the people who purchase those speakers are spending more on them than they did their house. (yours and my house maybe - but not theirs)

True. California audio technology CAT used to sell a set called MBX Goldrush series they weighed right at 2000lbs each and had far more drivers then you see in the standard MBX series I think it was something like 4-21" drivers 8-15" drivers 8- smaller midrange drivers and a whole shitpot full of tweeters, if I recall correctly and were priced at $1.28 mill I think not sure how many pair actually sold though :p

    REGARDS SNOW
Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

I think that I missed that from the start. If someone has a few hundred thousand to spend on their speakers, then they probably spent a lot more on their homes. As for most of the speakers being ugly, some of them did look like modern art. At any rate, I just can't see why any speaker system should cost that much. When the SDA's came out, they were very expensive, at least to me. The SRS's were over $3,000.00 at the time, which raised a lot of eyebrows.
