Model 5's - Driver Midrange Driver frozen

Hi, folks -
New member...have a pair of model 5's I bought new back in 1980. Have only been lightly used over the years, but found a couple years back that through some unkown circumstance, the midrange dropped out of one of the speakers. Finally asked someone to look at them and he found the midrange driver is frozen.

Was wondering if anyone knows what the part number is for that driver and where I can pick up one? I pulled the driver out the other night and it did not have a part number on it anywhere that I could find, just the Polk QA sticker with all the inspection buy-offs after assembly and the date. Also, if it helps, my serial numbers show as 5-114107 and 5-114035. Fuse block is right above the SN.

Was thinking about selling them, but if I can repair economically, may keep them since they are in such good shape otherwise.

Thank you for any assistance you can give, or any recommendations on what to do with them.

I whole heartedly agree. I just had the same thing happen to my 5jrs. THey each received new midwoofers and are up and running.

If you pull out the driver, it will have the part number on the back.

Doh, I did not read the part about that you could not see the part number

On the sticker you should see MW6502, or MW6500. These were the two most popular drivers for that speaker. If tere is no label take a multi meter, and read the ohms. Tell me what you get, and I'll tell you what you have.

Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks
