I replied to his post just now as i am looking for another pair. I'll let you all know what happens.......
I also scored a pair of 7bs this weekend - a friend of mine in Buffalo got them at an estate sale and is holding them for me till i get back up there to visit.
Wahoo!

Buying one woofer is well worth it for a $50 asking price for a pair of 10s.

i just joined because i just got a pair of 10's and am wondering what the difference is in the model 10's?. mine just say 10 no 10a-10b ect and on the back of the magnets the date is 1988. they also have the sl2000 tweeters. any body have any ideas?.thanks.

nope no fuse on the back.

I bought these off CL for I think a steal. How much would these go for normally today? I thought tweets were out, but after replacing fuses they sounded great. I have some JBL J350As as mains with some Polk Monitor 5Jr + for surround ($6 each at Goodwill). Would the 10Bs be better than the JBLs?

well my 10b's now have company lol. i just got a mint pair of sda 2b's with interconnect cable all in factory boxes. heres a couple of pics next to my dlk/2's.

fourwheels, I just bought the same speakers as you did yesterday for my garage set-up, and I too am trying to figure out what they are as well.
I have a pair of Monitor 10A in my living room and they clearly say 10A on the back and they have the fuse.
I was told by the owner that they are Monitor 10B but on the back it just says Monitor 10 like yours.
Can any experts help us out? Like he said before in this post, they have no fuse on the back, SL2000 tweeters, the Polk Audio logo is on the grill, not the speaker, and on the serial # label it says Monitor 10.
Thanks for anybody's help in advance. -
With an sl2000, I'm pretty sure you're looking at 10b's.My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself.

I do notice that the SL2000 tweeters sound like crap in my opinion. I will save up some money and get the new replacements from Polk.
-
I take that back...they do not sound like crap anymore...I had my speakers too close together and when I put them about 7 feet apart and about 1.5 ft from the wall they sound very much more like they should. My fault, but my peerless tweets in my 10A's do sound much better.

How low do the 10's go (bass hz)? I plan on using a set I got for mains.

reviews show that the Monitor 10s only go as low as 60Hz and it tapers 6db/octave from there...

Run them large, they go lower than you may think.
