Ten years with MS and I'm as healthy as before

This month is my 10 year anniversary of being diagnosed with ms. I have many of the common symptoms: numbness and burning in my feet and having to insert a catheter in my "say what" about 10-20 times a day to drain my bladder.

My symptoms do not seem to be getting any worse and that really didn't happen the first 9 years so I consider myself in remission. I haven't needed any iv steroids (solu-medrol) for close to 2 years now. My energy level is good and I'm gaining a little weight.

PM me if you want to know what I did to improve my health and facilitate this long-term remission.

Feel free to post your personal experience with ms or those of your friends, family, co-workers, etc.

    Carl,

I have no personal experience with this terrible disease. I just want to wish you luck in battling MS. I hope that you can continue to stay strong. Good luck!

Congrats and hope things continue to go well on that front.

Now, if you'd consider seeing a shrink so you could possibly stop being such an a$$hole....

Case in point, wtf? You are clearly fishing for compliments here, a guy gives you one and you still have to act like a jagoff.

Carl does have MS. Wether or not it has been 10 years, I can't vouch for.

His mental-well being is questionable, I will agree with that. He seems to have turned into the type of person that drives slow in the fast lane in order to antagonize others. To prove a warped point that somehow he is dealing with daily problems differently (read better) than other people. Even his "Have a nice day. I know I am." with the stupid smiley is posted in order to antagonize people. Unfortunately it works and is allowed to continue. Carl, please see, or continue to see, a qualified theapist.

Sorry for the derail, but I wanted to vouch for Carl on the MS question, and then encourage him to get help with the other.

I know. And, an incomplete quote of my post to show everyone that he doesn't care what I (or any other poster) said because what we post is not as important as his reply.

Good to hear CandyLiquor. My wife was diagnosed about 4 1/2 years ago with the same, She has had one flare-up and has been doing well ever since. She has some slight loss of sensation on her left side, but other than that she is doing well so far.

That's good. Are they giving her any iv steroids (solu-medrol) and copaxone?

Let me know if you want to know what I've done.

Couple of true friends have this and I do not wish it on anyone. The good thing for my friends, is it was gradual and the were able to adapt to new limitations. Sorry to here about you condition.

She has Not started Steroids yet. We planned on having more kids, so she decided to wait. We have had our 3rd and final child, and she is planning on starting treatment after our little one is done breast feeding. Nice thing for women is, as long as they are pregnant MS subsides, some thing about the hormones in their bodies. She also stays active which helps a lot. One of my friends also has MS, years ago she started low impact aerobics, and it has helped her a lot.

    Later,

    Asthma!

Yeah, I'd much rather have a degenerative brain disease than an easily treatable and common respiratory problem.

While I might agree with the ALS and Lupus, to say you'd rather have MS than asthma is ....... not very well informed.
