LSi15's or RTi A9's?
Hi all. I have a bit of a dilema and maybe you can offer some advice. My current system consists of an Onkyo 805, Polk Monitor 70's, 50's, 30's and CS2 center in a 7.1 system. I was about to upgrade the front's to RTi A9's and CSi A6 center, then I found out I could get the LSi15's and LSiC center for very close to the same price. So question is I can't afford the surrounds and rears for a while so can I temporarily run the monitor's as surrounds on 4 ohm setting or visa versa. I know it's just easier to get the RTi's but those LSi's really sound nice, My use will be probably around 70% for music then HT. TIA.:)

deff. the LSi's. Only having the fronts as 4 ohms, your AVR can handle it. You will deff. want to consider an external amp in time, especially when you get your surrounds the LSi series. Also, don't run your AVR in 4 ohm mode, it will cut the power down nearly half. Just don't crank up your AVR to extremely high levels or you risk over heating.
LSi's are better than RTi for Music. If you have a pretty good sub, you could consider LSi9s instead of the 15s, some prefer the 9s, you should listen to both and then decide. Either way you can't go wrong.TV: LG 55LW5600

Lsis for sure, however dont plan on turning that AVR up too loud to the point where you get distortion. You'll want to add an amp when funds allow. Welcome to a never ending hobby.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

I agree with the others. If the price isn't too high, you'll have the basis for an excellent music and HT rig. The 805 running full out (not 4 ohm setting) and well ventilated should get you by for awhile. You'll thank us whenever you put a CD in .

If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

Thanks for the advice and welcomes. Somehow I can see the cost getting out of control with the addition of an external amp. I wil have a look and see what kind of amp I would require for a 7.1 system.Receiver-Onkyo TX-NR 3010

Welcome Cross.
Get a 7 channel 200wpc or more amp and enjoy. Having one now will even help with the system you have now.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2 -
Since your just doing the fronts now, if you chose to go with the LSi15s and LSiC.. a GREAT amp would be the Acurus 200x3 amp. Runs around $400 used.TV: LG 55LW5600
