Hey ya'll,
I'm looking for a new car.....I currently drive a 93 mazda protege and am tired of getting all of the problems fixed with it.....I really am not in the market for a brand new car but newer is good....I want something with good gas mileage (of course) i'm used to getting about 30-32 mpg, so something around there would be good....any suggestions? Also i heard that you can trade in your old cars to the government for $3,000....anyone know how to do that? thanks ya'll

I'd get another Mazda if I were you. Great reviews and the best body styles for your ever day drivers for several years running, in my opinion.
They're usually driven by hot chicks, too. -
I really love my Scion xB! I wouldn't buy a new one but the 05-06s are cool, and cheap. 33mpg stock, 37mpg modified, fun to drive, haul around anything the bigger suv's will.

Avantgarde horns, 300b tubes, thats the kinda crap I want... -

The Camry and Accord can both get 30+mpg. If you want smaller and better mileage, go smaller Toyota or Honda. I'm a recent convert.-Ignorance is strength -

+1 on the Mazda 3. It's the new Protege. Great vehicle.
Also, Toyota Matrix is more than worth the money. They don't last very long on used lots for a reason. Tons of great reviews on them. -

I'm gonna second that one and add to it the Ford Focus. It is pretty much the same car, at least in North America it is. We get the European version next year as a 2010 model it seems.
And yes, chicks dig the Mazdas. They are "cute". Then again, girls think my truck is "cute". Until they want a ride in the passenger seat that is. Then they think it was put on Earth by Satan himself. I tell them it's Darth Vader's truck but they never listen, they just want to "see what it can do!" But the Mazda 3 has enough "fun factor" and aggressive styling to not be a "secretary special" like a V6 Mustang.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

I doubt that. If by "bigger SUV" you mean a Ford Escape or a Toyota RAV4 then maybe but as soon as you get into mid-sized like a Chevy 'Blazer or a Ford Explorer, they can yank around some pretty big piles of stuff.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

oh ya? well if i wasn't clear, thats what i am truely in the market for is a newer used vehicle......like and 05 or 06.......after driving an xB, I do enjoy them, but not completely settled on any car just yet! so anymore advice or suggestions with price ranges if possible would be awesome! -
Well if you want more info, what are you planning on doing with this "car" of yours? You didn't specify much so everybody seems to have defaulted to basic, economical transportation. If you want something more than that, there are other suggestions that can be made. But you need to give more details on your M.O there bro'!Expert Moron Extraordinaire

At the honda auction last week, a 07 mazda 6 with 22k miles sold for $13,000. I didn't look at it or check what model it was. A 08 corolla with 11k got as high as $10,500 but they didn't sell it because they wanted $14,000 for it. Most likely they would have taken $11-$12000 for it.

Good luck getting those prices. Locally, I can get a brand-new 09 Corolla LE automatic for $15.3K. -
When buying my xB I started looking for used. For whatever reason the used prices on 05's with significant mileage were only 200-300 lower than a brand new 06. This was pretty consistant. Obviously, if you don't get a reasonable savings, buy a new one.
Check out the Yaris too. Awesome little car. Someone else here has one... Fireman something?? http://www.toyota.com/yaris/ Sub compact type B class.

i really don't have any other details......i need a reliable car to drive.....i drive a lot and take roadtrips often enough so i little more room than a typical economy car would be good......other than that i can mod or ajust cosmetic things with it as i go........like interior, tint, audio, etc... thanks for all the help everyone!

well the car search is over! I ended up getting a truck just cause the deal was to good to pass up! i ended up totaling my protege on weds. (sucks, was my first wreck) so i ended up buying my dad's 06 tundra! its not amazing on gas but for a truck it is! haha thanks for all the help!
-
Well... that works I guess. Not what you were going for, but it's hard to argue a car from a family member, especially when you no longer have one. Good luck with your new truck!
