Receiver or Amp/Tuner to Drive SDA's?

Can anyone recommend a good modern stereo receiver or amp/tuner combination to drive my SDA’s? I currently have the SDA-CRS, SDA-1C’s and SDA-2’s.

It would be great to be able to switch between all three pairs but I don’t know if there is any receiver or amp out there that can do this.

I realize that it would be great to find an older, vintage receiver or amp but unless I can find one very local and can really check it out, I would rather stay with a new one.

Regrettably, I've fallen quite behind in what's out there now and would really appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks for any advice.

If you could give us an idea of your budget that would help.

My recommendation would be to find some nice clean used separates (preamp, amp, tuner) rather then a reciever. Typically separates are more honestly rated for power, have higher current capability, better build quality and are worth repairing. Good used separates also hold their value. They also allow system tweaking for cheap (change just preamp, etc)

An integrated amp and tuner is another budget idea with more performance than a reciever.

Well regarded affordable separates are Brands like Adcom, Rotel, Parasound, B&K, Outlaw, etc. Moving up the foodchain Classe, Bryston, etc etc. (please no flames I'm using broad brush strokes here)

Most any quality amp will drive all of your speakers with ease; some will argue that you need 200+Watts, although I am perfectly happy driving my SDA-1C's with 50-75 watts.

Look for something that will drive 4 ohm speakers comfortably, although these days practically every amp meets that requirement.

Do you want two zone capability or a remote? These questions will narrow down your choices and limit older vintage gear.

Provide your budget and I'm sure that you will get many suggestions, and happy hunting.

If the budget can swing it, absolutely.:p Or, minimally tube pre and good SS amp.

All of my SS gear is collecting dust (or it's recently sold) since I've been using tube gear. Once you're hooked on that warm glow, there is no going back.

I'll be going back to SS in the summer due to the heat. :D

Thanks, I believe I can go up to $700.00. Less would be better, more would be very difficult. That's pretty much my budget limit on this. As for tubes, I agree, they would be better, and I'll look for something, certainly as time goes on. But for now, I would like to stick to solid state.

    Thanks again.

You can do used Adcom, B&K, Rotel, Parasound, Outlaw etc separates for less than $700. Depending on what you want you could do amp, preamp and tuner for $400-$500 used.

    For example:

Adcom GFP-555 $175 average (There's one on audiogon)
    B&K ST-140/ST-202 $200 used average
    decent tuner $75-$100

    or

    Parasound P-HP 850 $150 used average
Parasound HCA 1201 monoblocks $325 (there is a pr on Audiogon)
    decent tuner $75-$100

You can probably find an integrated tube amp for around $700 also (jolida, etc)

Check Craigslist, Ebay, Polk Flea Market, Audiogon, etc.
