I'll add more later but she cooked a mean roast every sunday with potatoes and carrots cooked in with it.
Homemade cinnamon rolls and flakey buttermilk dinner rolls.
Homemade gravy using the oil from that night's meat (hamburger, chicken, sausage, etc).
Cherry bread pudding.
Corn meal mush.

You're assuming mom could cook.
The wife is a far better cook."The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbour to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg." --Thomas Jefferson -

The female parental unit in our house couldn't boil water without warping the pan. Not a single memorable good meal, but many really bad ones like that tuna caserol crap she'd make. Ah, such fond memories..

My mom used to put raisins in her meatballs. Seriously. They still tasted delicious which makes me question my belief in a higher power.I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

It would have to say just about anything she cooked. My Italian aunts and grandmother taught her how to cook.

My mother used to cook a French-Canadian dish who's name I can barely pronounce and won't attempt to spell.
It was like a regular pie with bottom and top crusts but the inside had ground beef & mashed potatoes mixed with some cinnamon. It was very good and usually made at Christmas time. But oh, the calories and fat!
Anybody heard of this? What's the name? -
I'm going to guess Beef TourtiereIf you will it, dude, it is no dream.

The name doesn't seem right but the recipe sure does. Good guess!
