How would I know for sure if the tweeters are dimensional or not? I would think they are since there are two in each, just like the mids and lows.
Is it easy to disconnect them? Exactly what does it do to the sound?

Well looking at the schematic that Darqueknight posted. it looks like you do have a dimensional driver.

It is hard to explain the difference without the dimensional tweeter. All I can say is there was always some kind of weirdness to my speakers until I disconnected it. Not harsh but not right. You should try it with a piece of music you listen to often.

Personally, I would go with the 805 you were originally considering. In two channel, it puts out 173 watts before clipping @ 8 ohms, should put out even more into 6 ohms, as it will do 270 into 4 ohms. It will have much more power than the HK's listed.

And if it doesn't work out, you can still add an amp later.
