rti8 or rti10's with a CS2?
Hello. I'd like to thank all of the contributors to these forums for their advice and suggestions. In the past I just read your posts and learned what I could. But now I can use a little advice... I currently have
Onkyo SR605
4 r50's for L/R and surrounds
CS2 center
JBL Sub12
All in all I'm very happy with this set up, especially given the cost (approx 1,100 for everything). Neverthless, I'm considering upgrading the front L/R and moving one pair of the r50 to back thereby creating a 7.1. So, here's my question: Could I add a pair of rti8's or rti10s (assuming I can get a deal from Frys or elsewhere) to the CS2 and have them match fairly well? Or would I be better off staying within the monitor line and picking up a pair of the monitor 60's or 70s?
My primary interest is music, though much of it comes from MTV HD or just regular old MTV/VH1.
Any advice would be much appreciated!

Don't start two threads at the same time, about the same thing.

I like the RTI10's if you can find them a little cheaper that 250.00....you can get the 8's at fry's now but I did not find a huge difference in the 8's from the 50's that I have. Your reciever can run the 8's, people will tell you if you get the 10's that you will want to add a amp down the road to push them. As for your center, when I was at the store picking up my csi3 I had a chance to compare it to the cs2 and they were about on par for me, everyone will tell you that the best centers now are the csi5 and csa6(the newer 5) and of course the LSi center. But you have what you have and if you can hear clear voices then stick with it.
I am now seeing that it comes down to your ears, sure every 2 years or so we can upgrade but lets make sure its worth it. You have entry level polks, the monitors are the "next step up" why not by pass that step for thr Rti line if you choose to stick with polk? They are on fire sale right now, then again you could try the biggest monitor like the 70's but you would be right back to adding an amp to push them. With the sale of the 10's and even 12's right now I would skip over the monitors and head right for the big boys. At least you will stop buying speakers for a few years and have a better chance at resale if you still want to step up but remember the next dive to the LSi is going to cost you dearly!Retired Onkyo 520 (returned broken HK 247)

Thanks KChill! Appreciate the advice. I do want this upgrade to keep me satisfied for a few years. Given your comments, I'll just keep my eyes open for a good deal on the Rti10s or Monitor 70s. Actually I wouldn't be in a rush to upgrade were it not for the fact that the this seems like a good time to buy the Rti's. It seems possible to get either one for about $250.MAIN: Polk Lsi9s; Polk PSW505; Lsic (in box); Onkyo SR-875; Parasound 2250; Cambridge Audio 740C; LG BD370

The double post was an accident. I know it is possible to edit, but there doesn't seem to be a way to delete it completely.MAIN: Polk Lsi9s; Polk PSW505; Lsic (in box); Onkyo SR-875; Parasound 2250; Cambridge Audio 740C; LG BD370
