For those interested, there is a pair of SRS 1.2's on the Dallas
CL for $700.00 OBO. I know they would be gone before I could get there so
for any locals it looks like a good deal. They were listed yesterday.

Looks like someone snaked me on them and offered them $1000 which I would have paid. Oh well...what goes around comes around. I tried picking them up Friday and he wanted to wait till Monday. Maybe the seller is of the same snake origin as the buyer.

avguytx. I think my 1C's that I bought from Texas42 are a pair that you upgraded. Great
job. I think they are still breaking in but sound great. We watched the entire Eagles Farewell Tour last night with the 1C's hooked up. If anyone is looking for an evening to butter up your
wife or chick, I can recommend this DVD.

Our 60+ year old neighbors watch/listen to that Eagles DVD practically every weekend. I can hear it through their walls ( we are in SoCal, with about 20' between our houses), especially the bass lines, so I practiclly have the set list memorized....I think it's the only music that they own. Maybe next christmas I'll get them another music DVD for some variety :D

I wonder what their equipment might be.
60+ ?, I'm 53, I think. Makes me wonder what the younger MP3 crowd thinks of such a classic group such as the Eagles. And, will they ever have the chance to here SDA's or better to
appreciate such music. I'm just thinking out loud.

Sorry man the guy told me nobody was real eager to come get them so I said I could be there in 20 minutes. That was not until this morning. I did not give the guy a thousand bucks either..

Totally unintentional>>> He just acted like nobody was overly excited to come down there until I talked to him.

Sorry - I really am!!! I am a newbie and would hate to be hated before I even got started on here!!!!

Funny...I talked to him Friday when the ad first posted and I was the first person that had even called. I offered to come get them over the weekend but he wanted to wait till he talked to his father in law about them. So, for someone to come in behind someone else and offer more to take the deal, well, that mildly chaps my ****. Oh well...**** happens. Enjoy.

I didnt miss it - I was on craigs list and sent the note before I got on this forum.... I'm still not understanding why the guy told me nobody was real eager to come get them - I figured whoever it was here must have fell thru if by Sunday they weren't gone.

Their equipment is a little pioneer "hometheater in a box". They do have a pair of old ESL tower speakers not hooked up. The ones with the Heil tweeter , a 10 inch or so driver and a 10 inch or so passive radiator. I popped the grills and the foam surrounds were long gone, with the PR diaphram laying on the speaker stuffing. They are probably good candidates for a re-surround job.

It doesn't make a whole lot of sense that by Sunday nobody was interested in them, yet he got 300 more then the advertised price ?

The truth of the matter is craigslist is a ruthless cuthroat sales outlet that if you snooze you lose. When I saw my first craigslist SRS's up for 500 dollars I was the very first caller....the seller called me back 5 MINUTES later and told me he already had an offer of 600.

I asked him that since I was the first caller , if I gave him the 600 could I come pick them up ? I told him to expect calls offering more until I could get there, but since I was driving 80 miles to pick them up if I arrived and they were gone I would be more then mildly pissed...he agreed and I teleported over there and grabbed them.

The guy did not get 300 bucks more for them!!! He said he had interest but nobody excited enough to come get them.... if i wanted them come on down.... Was I supposed to post here first before I went down there??

I have no idea where the 1000 dollars is coming from....

this seems to be happening more and more often.. where a couple people call on a set of speakers.. and are told different things by the seller..

bullet21, i think you showed immediate interest in coming to get them and that's why they went to you over anyone else.. if a seller is motivated by his wife to get those damn speakers out of the house.. he'll usually sell them to the person who shows up first.

you must have said something to him where he knew you were serious enough to go get them.

Like I said earlier...I called him Friday afternoon and offered to come get them that night or Saturday. He said he would call me Sunday sometime after he talked to his father in law. I ended up calling him at noon Sunday and left a voice mail then called again a little after 2pm and he said someone offered him a $1000 and he sold them. Those were his exact words. I (sarcastically) told him I appreciated the call back from him offering me the first rights of refusal on picking them up as I was the first person to call and I would have paid more if need be.

In all honesty ....no name was ever mentioned here on the forum...nobody popped up and said " I am off to go get these guys...wish me luck "....so if you just contacted the guy and got them for 700 because HE said nobody showed real interest then you did nothing wrong and should be congratulated on a stellar grab.

Now if the seller ( Was it a younger guy or the actual father in law you dealt with ?) said " Somebody from some polk forum already called and is willing to go higher on these...give me 1K and you can take them right now " THAT would be scumbaggish and deserve a pimp slap.

The ONLY person who is going to really know which deal actually panned out is going to be you....a mans word is golden...if you say scenario one unfolded then thats what happened.

I'm not worried about losing out on the speakers...it's just the ethics involved. No matter which side it was, it's just sad. That's one of the many things that's helping this world go to hell in a hand basket faster. It's only a pair of speakers...nothing more.

The guy lied about getting a thousand for them - nor do I have any idea why he decided to take my money instead of yours.

The conversation went like this - you still got them... he said yep... i said i'll be there in 25 minutes... he said there yours. He did say man i guess I should have asked for more when I got there.

I am a little concerned that I would get a bad name here because this is a wonderful resource of folks and i dont want to get off on the wrong foot (being somewhat new). I've got some mint 1C's i want to modify and now these and I'm kinda shooting myself in the foot if i'm trying to undercut long term guys that provide all the good info.

If i was trying to be sneaky why would i have even posted that I had them or that I even contacted him???

There is some comfort in knowing the seller got raped for letting them go for only 700...and that he knows it makes it even sweeter :D

So you gave the $700 asking price for them? If so, you got a great deal.

Actually I gave him an extra 20 by mistake and told him to keep it... The speakers are flawless.... I've put together a pretty good system for 1220 bucks that includes an Adcom 585 amp and a 565 pre and the Polks.... Not bad for the price of a Bose HTIB.

Actually picked up the amp for cheap at Marvins in ft Worth of all places..

Can't decide if I will sell my 1C's or still modify them...

Joe Walsh adds a uniqueness to the Eagles. After we bought the new Eagles album my wife
went and bought all of Walsh's old stuff. He is doin great in his later years.
Disc 1, track 7, of the new Eagles CD is one the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.
Starts a little slow but is mezmarising by the end. Really good on SDA's.

I hope that the last comment I left him with made him feel like an idiot. Funny that I told him on the phone I would drive out there Friday night but he wanted to wait till Sunday....and didn't call like he said he would.
