I saw a pair of rough 7C's in a thrift store today for $18.00.

Are they worth it if not just for the drivers alone?

Seriously though, Scott. How bad? If the drivers are good I think it would be worth it. Can't be more then one sheet of MDF to do new cabinets. Might be a fun project.

I might go back saturday night and if they are still there I might pick them up.

We shall see. One thing I do not need is more speakers. I need a TT and more vinyl and a RCM and cleaning fluids and more vinyl , not speakers.:D

I just looked at Sal's thread about the 5A's and I have to say they are in about the same condition maybee even a little better. Sorry Sal.

What do you mean no????? $18?????

For a garage/shop/whatever rig you won't find a speaker that sounds as good for $100!!!

I agree with Ricardo, as long as all the drivers work, it's a no brainer.

I am Mr Mom tonight so I will try to get there tomorrow. They also had a pair of KLH 17 which I have read are supposed to be pretty decent speakers also.

I went and looked at the Monitor 7's again and one of them had a mid bass driver that was scratchy when I pushed on it. I passed and raided the vinyl section and walked out with 20 records in very nice condition.

actually if they have SL2000's in them, Barakas, and I are needing 1 each. And for $18 that would be great. Plus your trouble and shipping.

yes they are worth $18 even with one bad driver.. you can sell the tweeters and passives and make some $$ on the deal.. i would have gotten them myself.

I just need one tweeter for my SDA SRS 2's. I don't have the $200+ to go with my only other option. I'm very considerate and reasonable on the subject tho.

If they are still there I will pick them up and part them out but I don't know if the tweeters are good either.

On the other hand I have a pair of minty 1C's with 4 SL2000 that I will be upgrading with RDO's in the not to distant future. Maybe we could work something out but I need to use the 1C's on Feb 23 for a function. So it would have to be after the 23rd.

Yeah, I would snag those from the thrift store and make a cpl bucks for sure. E-bay is bone dry,and I saw a post here where a guy had six pairs of SL2000,dated 05' and he msgd me today that they are gone. He got rid of most of them within the first page of reply posts.

    On the other note,I can exercise a few weeks of patience.That won't be a problem,and sounds great.Thank you very,very much,Scott.
