I've never tried, I'm not a fan of small speakers.

If you set your front channels as LARGE, how did you also set the crossover to 100? On my receiver and a few others I have seen, once you set the channel to LARGE, there is no longer a crossover option for that channel. Perhaps you set the other channels at 100.

When set to LARGE, you eliminate any filtering by the crossover so you are sending the full frequency. As for the amp, well this question is asked at least 3 times a week so the search option is your friend. I can tell you the two amps that you listed will do well.

Actually, according to my HK you can set the front speakers to either LARGE or SMALL and change the crossover frequency on each. Currently they are set to 80, and the sub matching to the fronts.

they smell after listening for about 45 minutes, but smell more if i turn up the volume...

Than i think distortion is causing this. I have this problem in my car with my components since I'm pushing them to there limits and certain badly recorded songs make the voice coils stink quicker than other songs. I just turn the volume down some as soon as i smell them.

Are you using a lot of eq. ? This could be causing it also.
    Big thanks to "Neskahi" !

Guys, if they start smoking, it's time to back it down a lot!
Lots of clean power works much better. Also, think of your long term hearing.

sorry for the delay guys. I dont think that there is any distortion since there isnt any slurring of words and everything sounds perfectly crisp. Also I am not listening that loud- 20 db on the HK is probably in the middle, when it is not driven by an amp...
