Radiohead's evolution after Pablo Honey

I'm listening to Pablo Honey at work right now. Every time I hear it, I'm amazed at how different and pedestrian it is compared to Radiohead's later work.

In my opinion, this band evolved as well as any other rock band in history: from the mediocre efforts of Pablo Honey, to the amazing guitar-driven songs of The Bends, the transcendent sound of Ok Computer, then a big change to the eletronic/jazz-inspired sound of Kid A and Amnesiac, and finally Hail to the Thief, which I view as a synthesis of their previous sounds.

Can't wait for their next album!

Nail on the freakin' head. No offense, but I find Pablo Honey unlistenable. As for the rest of their catalog... every bit of it's stellar. I've actually started to grow partial to Amnesiac, if you can believe it.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

I still <3 Ok Computer. Haven't really been able to get into their other stuff. I should give it another spin...

Not surprised, ZB. Kid A is no doubt a masterpeice, but I often find Amnesiac a more personal and poignant album.

Actually listening to OK Com. right now...just hit the 2nd movement of Paranoid Android and gotta go...

    Peace gents. Talk soon

The Bends still tends to be my Favorite, I don't find any of the rest very interesting. Don't get me wrong, all have parts I like... As a entire CD though, nothing comes close to The Bends in my book...

Totally agree - love all their stuff and they have matured with each release. Also, if you like their stuff, grab a listen to another band from the UK, Muse. I really love all of their albums as well - 3 to date.

I have some Muse--pretty good. Too bad they're often compared to Radiohead, because to me they're just on two totally different levels. Tough to hang with Radiohead, IMO.

I love OK Computer but I find myself listening to The Bends way more often. I think it just has better transitioning and it feels more..complete than OK Computer.
