185lbs...
Don't really look fat, but I would like to drop about 30lbs....Once I get back to sanity, I'll start riding the bike again....The funny part is that in June I weighed about 205....That was official fat **** status...I haven't worked out at all, just dropped a lot of stress and now drink Diet Coke..... -

I'm back to the gym and usually level off for a period of time as the muscle mass builds. I need to lose it around the gut though. A guesstimate would be for me to get down to around 225lbs to be lean.
I've totally changed my body composition. I'm still weighing in at around 245lbs after training and dieting all out for 3 months.
I used to wear my belt on notch 2 (a little snug at times mind you), but now it's on notch 4 comfortably and quickly closing in on the 5th and final notch.
I've all but quit worrying what the scale says cause it's pointless. I'm much much leaner and muscular 3 months later and feel awesome! I was damn determined to (1.) Look good on the beach for vacation in Mid September, and (2.) be in great shape when I turn 40 in November.
Having sinus surgery back in late April helped cause now the sinus issues are gone which means no layoffs from training due to illness.
Rock on everyone! Keep up the great work!

P.S No hope for me I will be a big oaf no matter what I do.:pWell, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all -

I'm 5 foot 7 and I weighed in at 173 pounds this morning. Got a 30.5 inch waist and I want to drop maybe 5 more pounds of fat to get back to a 30 inch waist. But I'll probably end up gaining more muscle weight by the time that's done. I'll be looking at probably 180 pounds by the time I'm done.
No supplements or drugs either. Just daily exercise and diet changes. Well, more like 5-6 days a week. But I'll stop for a week or two to let my body catch up. That's where the biggest difference in weight and strength happen, when your body is done healing. Oh yeah, I just turned 30. I figure I should reach my goal by October if I keep with it. If I slack off, I'll be where I want to be by December.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

6' 4", 235 lbs. 2 years ago I was up around 275 lbs and would like to get down to 220 ±. Walking to play golf in hilly East Tennessee during warm weather (above 35°) and recumbent bike in the winter months. I've kept the diet the same, which is why I'm still 235 lbs."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

5' 11' 183lbs. I don't look it, but that's not necessarily a good thing. I weighed around 155 when I started this deskjob 3 yrs ago, and have been slowly/steadily putting on the pounds. My waist has went from a 32 to a 34, and my face looks.......fuller.
I haven't exercised regularly in about 5 years, so I know what I have to do...its just getting motivated and being consistent that is hard for me.2007 Club Polk Football Pool Champ

Just about 22 years old
Yes I know I'm unhealthy, thanks. 2 surgeries last year killed me(no gym for 1.5 years) so I rejoined the gym this past week. My goal needs to be met by September.
Wow, what on earth was I thinking....goal needs to be met by September.....guess I was kidding myself. No big deal. Eventually I'll get there, no rush.
Anyway, really havent been losing much in terms of weight.....right around 240-242 but pants fit significantly better(to the point soon I need to buy new pants), I am much stronger, I feel healthier(I can actually jog 30 minutes on the treadmill rather than only walk 15-17 when I started)
I guess at this point I learned weight really has little meaning. It's all about how healthy you feel, your body fat %, and how you look.
I can very visibly see the difference in how I look.
I can very much feel the difference in being healthier.
I can very much see the difference in the weight I was lifting when I first started and the weight I am lifting now.
Only part that sucks is my gym partner quit on me this month so now I am on my own......but that's not gonna stop me at all....I've had this much result so far and I plan to continue long as I can. Certainly would be nice to get a new workout partner though. -
5'11" 170lb after lifting and eating hard. 3 years again I weighed 140!
-
5'11 and 178lbs.
I've noticed lately that my pants are getting a tad snug. I don't care how much I weigh, it's how I feel. I feel fat right now. Starting next week I should be back on a somewhat workout plan. With everything going on my heatlh has been set to the back burner. -

You're not losing weight as fast because you are probably building muscle while losing fat. Muscle is more dense than fat and heavier. So if you are hitting the gym hard and doing fairly high impact stuff and weight training, you are going to start to gain some muscle fairly quickly over your entire body. that can equate to a 10 pound loss in fat and a 5 pound gain in muscle. Also, as your body tries to adjust your metabolism to keep up with your exercise, you will tend to gain water weight too. Keep at it and you'll see a weight drop soon enough. Cut salty foods out of your diet too. Salt raises blood pressure and makes you retain water too.
If you just want to drop weight, lay off the weights and just do aerobic stuff like jogging, stair-climbing, or even an aerobics class. You'll drop weight fast and won't gain so much muscle. If you want to do strength stuff though, get with a trainer and get some advice on technique and such. You don't need to do power weight lifting to gain strength. They have stuff called "resistance training" I think it is? It's where you use weights but you aren't pushing your limit, you're just working with a little extra weight to add resistance to your routine. It makes it more effective.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

6'4 255, would like to get down to around 215-220 again. I was 210-215 while I was in the Marine Corps. Ended my career and gave up those 5 mile runs and got bigger, always been on the weights, just need to get that cut again. Needless to say after being in the Marines, I hate running with a passion. Guess I need to get a new bike for Christmas.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

That's exactly what the trainer at the gym that has been helping me said to me. I'm not so much concerned with dropping weight, as much as I am about looking good and feeling good. If i get down to my goal of 215 and still have the strength I want that's great, if I get down to 220-225 and get stuck there and still have the strength and look I want, so be it.
I have completely restructured my diet, for the last 2 monthes no more soda, no more sugars, very little carbs, very high protein.
I have been on a power lifting routine and I will continue the power lifting till I reach my goal bench weight of 350 lbs. Depending how I look/feel at that point I will either continue to power lift or just maintain but at this point I am far away from that decision.

I'm right at 205 now... slimmed down quite a bit, while getting much more cut... still have a ways to go, but really enjoying it!
I started 12 hours of schooling at night, while working full time in the day, so i'm hoping to not lose any of the gains. Put up 300 on the bench the other day at the end of a 5x5 workout... so that was a nice milestone
Here's to getting and keeping fit guys! Cheers!!!Honoured to be, an original SOPA founding member

That's a really good shove. If you keep at it you will be able to maintain good strength into your 50s! Me and a friend of mine always worked out together from our teens on up. I stopped for about 10 years (my forties) and he kept it up. I started up with him again around 3 years ago. At 52 he is benching 305 on a few good shoves, while I am struggling 260 once. He looks great while I have developed this huge single muscle around my mid section that just won't go away! -
Grats on the 300, I can't wait to hit that milestone, 225 was a really good one for me since it meant 2 45 pound plates on each side.
And about that "huge single muscle" around the mid section, that's not really a muscle, i got news for ya.
Anyone else find it amusing how easy it is to put on weight but how hard it is to take it off? -

This is true but it can take one heck of a punch!:D -
I have no clue how much I can bench press. I know I can put about 280 pound feet of torque on an axle nut before I have to start leaning on the wrench handle but that's the only kind of measurement I have. Whatever that equates to, I dunno. Gotta be some conversion equation out there. The only reason I know this for sure is because that was what the torque wrench was set to and I got it to click without putting my weight in to it.
As far as losing weight, yeah, it ain't easy. Especially when you get down to those last few pounds in odd places. It's really difficult to do exercises to target those areas and they just hang around and won't go away.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

You yunguns have no idea YET what it's like to get rid of unwanted weight!!!! Ha ha ha!:D
My father (rest in peace) use to tell me all the time when I was in my teens to make sure not to put on more than 10 lbs when the 30s and 40s came around. I wish I listened to him. -

225 was a HUGE milestone... I remember that feeling... 315 would be 3 45's on each side That'd be fun! Keep it up. I've moved from heavy lifting into a lot of conditioning stuff... quite a blast. Give THESE(http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/rossboxing2.htm) a try... I have my 100 burpee (Ultimate Burpee's only of course) time down to 10 minutes... Shooting for sub 8 min time.Honoured to be, an original SOPA founding member

The burpees look great for conditioning. As for right, I have a routine that I do everyday, I have myself committed to the gym 7 days a week for the till Thanksgiving unless something insane comes up. I managed 6-7 days a week through july and august so there is no way I shouldn't be able to do 7 days atleast doing my 30 minute run a day.
Also, when lifting, I lift 1 full part of the body, then take a break from it for 2 days. So far so good on that only exception is stomach which I do situps and crunches everyday so I can get rid of that "single muscle."
Eventually when I reach goal I will move to conditioning. -
