I just noticed that there are 6-7 Rotel 1072 cdp's on audiogon right now. What's up with this unit? Any guesses about why so many people want to sell it?

I'll let you know what I think after this weekend! I picked up a B-Stock unit with a scratch on the side and full warranty for $459 last weekend. It seems most used ones move quickly in the $400 to $500 range, so I won't be out much if I don't like it.

I don't know about this unit, but one could get on the Rotel forum at HTGuide, I think it is. I have often noticed that certain units that tend to show up on ebay are ones that had some common problem--i.e., were part of a bad run. I'll check it out and let you know what I see.

The Rotel club at HTguide.com has a lot of postings on the unit but no theme about problems with it. It was very popular, and the audioreview.com has very positive feedback. There are a few negative reviews out there. I have had the Rotel 940 cd changer for 15 years and it has worked without a hitch for 13 years.

Search this very forum and you'll find that this CDP had its moment in the sun for a hot minute. Kind of earned the "giant killer" moniker for a time.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore
