Since NO ONE is going to be constantly listening at the levels you were listening to, BOTH amps should be just fine for the vast majority of the time. Please to your ears & less strenuous on your gear.

Ben's comments are not limited to the insane levels he was listening to. He is also comparing his impressions are lower levels if I am reading correctly.

I haven't head a wide variety of gear, but if there is anything that I HAVE learned it's that amps all have different characteristics. Nothing was more eye opening than when I had my heart set on buying Outlaw monoblocks and then got it torn out when I compared a 125 wpc ADCOM GFA-545 to the 200 WPC Outlaw. The Outlaw would have been a waste of $$$$ for me. They didn't sound any different than my H/K receiver. The ADCOM is head and shoulders above the Outlaws in imaging, low end punch, detail and soundstage. The Outlaws shine in HT, but not in pure 2-channel listening.

Funny, my Parasound Halo A21 smokes the Sunfire Signature and PS Audio HCA2 amps I used to own in dynamics, detail, punch, you name it. I'm starting to become a bit wary of the high efficiency designs - maybe it just takes a traditional low-efficiency design like the Halos & that Adcom to get the best dynamics.

The guy at the link below has a really high opinion of the 585 and even claims the modded version outperforms my beloved Halo JC1 monoblocks :o Must be one hell of an amp you've got there!

And does Mark selling his 21s and keeping the Classe make you wonder how bad the 25 smoked the Parasound?

    I did.

Possibly, but the A21 is the first amp to perform at a level this satisfying for me, so I'm not too worried about it for now :p

I think a sunfire can be better appreciated on fine speakers, they really push the signals out cleanly

The Sunfire could not compete with the Adcom in any respect. Nothing accept the fact that it barley gets warm is better than the adcom. I guess I should have used better speakers than SDA-SRS's with RDO tweets, upgraded caps, and resistors.

    Yep, I already have a GFA-585, GFA-555, and a GFA-7500. I think I should be set with my amp selection for a while. Unless I find a nice GFA-5802:D

From everything I've ever read...I have absolutely no desire to ever try a Sunfire product...ever.

I love my Adcom 545...my next amp will be an Adcom 5802...After that I'm thinking something from Pass Labs...

I do want a tube Pre. Later I want serious tubes. Later may be never, but Adcom is a serious gateway amp in the quest for HiFi.

That's why audio is so much fun. There are so many choices, and so many different ears to hear them with. Ben, if you would like to demo the 600/2, I would be happy to get your impressions.

That would be a hell no. Yeah big numbers don't do it for me anymore(especially when they are rated at, or near clipping).
    Thanks ****.

That was me. I don't like the new school switching high effecieny designed amps. They just don't have the finesse, detail, punch and bottom end of a simple well designed bi-polar amp.

I listened to some Outlaws awhile ago and quickly turned them off.........yuck!!!

Are you refering to the Outlaw Monoblocks that have the efficient class-g amps?

General rule of thumb is don't let it bother you if someone dose't like you gear. If your happy:cool:
Just keep an open mind with other gear.

DAM& YOU GUYS and talking about your adcoms. I miss that low end drive, the slam, I totally miss the dynamics. If the MTX amp in my van was common ground It would be driving my SDAs right now.

Yeah it was the first and only dedicated amp I had ever heard(besides pro stuff), but man did I love it. I was thinking about buying one in the first quarter of next year but I think I'm gonna pick up another hobby and pick up a Traxxas Summit to pull my kids around in the snow this winter:D
