Monitor C7's: How much are they worth?

A long time ago (about 1979), I purchased a brand new pair of Monitor C7's. They were my second pair of speakers on my system and I didn't use them much. Long story short, I moved a couple of years later and put the speakers in an upstairs bedroom closet where they have sat ever since. I'm moving again and I just got them out and looked at them critically. They look brand new - not a mark on them anywhere. My new place really doesn't have room for them either so I guess I should part with them. Any idea what they are worth? Is eBay the best place to sell them? What are expert buyers (i.e., folks like you that know Polk) looking for? I've read some stuff on here that the particular tweeter they have is of importance/concern. Anything else? And how does one go about shipping such beasts without destroying them? TIA for any and all responses!

They are not really that good. If you send them this way I'll pay for shipping_________________________________________________

Let me try my serious side here....welcome to the forum.
Monitor 7's are one of the best vintage Polk's according to people that have heard them all. I only heard a pair of Monitor 7A's with the peerless tweeter, and they blew me away. Some pictures would help here.
They go for anything between $50-$150 on ebay; really not much for a great pair of speakers. You should keep them (or follow instructions on post #2)._________________________________________________

OK, I've finally managed to get some pics. So, are these the "good" kind of 7Cs? What would be a fair price for these? How do you ensure that they survive shipping? Bubble wrap and packing peanuts? BTW, they really do look brand new even though the flash from the camera sometimes makes them look funny. Also, are the speaker stands something that should go with them? These say "OmniStand" on them so I doubt that they are the stands that you folks talk about on here for your Polks. I really loved these speakers, but with the downsizing of my home and all, they have to go (along with my Pioneer PL-518 direct drive turntable, my Pioneer SX-780 and about 400 or so record albums!). Thanks guys - you are the experts and I value your opinion.

You have the "early" Monitor 7C with SL1000 tweeters and a fuse. Those look really nice. I have the later Monitor 7C with the bad SL2000 tweeters that should be replaced. I did not know anything was wrong with them for 20 years until I joined this forum.
I don't know about those stands. The stands shown in my owner's manual look different.
You will not get very much money for them. They sell at rock bottom prices on Ebay, $150 or less. I paid $380 new in 1985.Sony KF-50WE610 LCD Projection TV

I'm the chap who bought all of Art15651's equipment [ wish I would have known about the 400 records ] and I'm still amazed how pristine his gear is. Very glad to have taken it all off his hands - the PL-518, SX-780, HPM-60's, and Polk 7C's all look brand new.
Wish I could find some more of the Omni stands though.POLK SDA-1 SIGNATURE SERIES

Hey Darren!
Glad they worked out for you. I think I might have gotten rid of the albums before you bought my gear. As you can imagine, the albums (generally rock albums from the late 60's through the late 80's) were mostly pristine as well since I usually just slit the cellaphane wrapper to get the record out, played it once (after cleaning it with a Discwasher brush) to record it onto cassette and then put it away (stored vertically, of course) never to be played again unless something happened to the cassette. Some I bought and never got around to opening! I got virtually no offers for them however. Finally a guy came and gave me something like $50 for the lot. After I agreed to sell them to him (and I never go back on my word), I found out that he was going to make purses out of them for his store in the Mall of America! Ugh; what a waste! But I had to get rid of them and his was the best offer by far.
Anyway, enjoy those sweet 7C's - I miss them.

The Monitor 7's and 10's are the two best speakers in the $150 and below range.

I can certainly vouch for the 7's. I love my 7A's...excellent speakers. I've yet to hear the 10's though...I've been wondering if that would be a worthwhile upgrade or not. I've read in a lot of reviews that a lot of people prefer the 7's over the 10's. It seems that a lot of people find the two side by side mid-woofers on the 10's to be really muddy sounding compared to the 7's one mid-woofer. The added bass output of the 10's would definitely be a plus though.
I'd love to get my ears on some 10's and do my own comparison sometime. The nirvana inducer-

I have the 10A's with the peerless tweets. If you're ever in the St. Louis area you're more than welcome to come over and have a listen. I also have the Monitor 5's and 1.2 TL's as well.SDA SRS 2.3TL's
