Refefer 102db @ 2.83volt/1meter..................Jakelm I probably could have done without the sub, you see I was trying to drive these with my old marantz and while it did sound good my 30 yr old unit just didn't have enough omph to "really" wake them up. I bought the sub before the adcom stuff, once I got the adcom's it was like night and day the low end really came alive! volume and clairity are insane. Although, the sub is awesom it rattles the wall's!! :D

Looks impressive but you did use the term 2 channel set-up. Open for some critique on the 2 channel performance of it as opposed to what the performance could be like?

Mr. Bob I'm not shure if I know what you mean, and yes I am open to any sugestions you may have. do you see a hole in what I have that I don't? I bought the best gear that I could afford and went about setting it up the best way I knew how. I would like better equipment in the future but for now this is it.

The Doc Frankenstein in me sez try the RF-7's head to head (one upside down on top of the other).
I could never get 2 sets of speakers imaging their best side by side. If your ceiling is standard 8ft you could build a up to 1 ft box type shim to lock it in place(no topple).
You could disable(or not) the secondary tweeters for bilateral symmetry...crazy yes,fun yes,a wall of sound hell yes. Maybe not such a good idea with a kid. Someone find my off switch :o

Have you tried getting those rear ports away from the front wall some more?
    Time for fun w/room treatments.

Music Joe thank's again I think I now understand what Mr. Bob was saying. Lsi9 by having two speakers side by side on each side and in different spot's on the floor all producing the same signal it would be nearly impossible to get the imageing right and hard to justify calling it "two channel"...................I think!!

Sorry, I wasn't ignoring you, I just got back here.

It is hard to believe though that no one came up with any helpful suggestions for you to get more quality 2 channel sound going on.
There are a few simple rules you can keep in mind when building a serious 2 channel system that go a long ways in achieving the quality and accuracy the hobbyist is usually striving for.

Kinda in a nut shell: You have to remember that speakers radiate sound waves from all sides and not just out the front. These sound waves are affected by objects they run into and directly effect the width and depth of your sound-stage and the imaging or placement of the instruments within. Keeping adverse effects to a minimum is what you want to shoot for.

While not everyone is in the position of having the "perfect" listening room you have to do the best with what you have to work with.
In your photo it looks as though you don't have a lot of room to work with on the right side so you're limited there. It really is best if you can get at least three feet distance here from the outer edge of you right-hand speaker to the wall. This would reduce early side reflections which effects the sound-stage and imaging. Having two speakers filling an already tight space just complicates matters more. Unfortunately, having two speakers side by side creates it's own problems though as now you have the two speakers kinda blasting each other in the sides making some really early and confusing side reflections. Also not a recommended practice. Although it will produce a large volume of sound, that will be at the expense of accuracy.

You do have some control over the front wall (wall behind speakers.) It's not normally recommended that you have glass as a (very reflective) surface behind a speaker. On the contrary as this will also have a detrimental effect on sound. The mirrors are within your control to place or remove I'm guessing.

Likewise, taking it one step further it would also be a plus if your rather tall equipment rack, which is where... correct, standing up between your speakers (creating yet another early surface for the inner surface of the speakers to reflect off ) wasn't nearly as high. With a bit of thought and planning you could probably increase the efficiency of this area too.

Hey, I know it's all in fun and we each do what is most fun for us. Do what's fun for you. You have to be the one who is happy. It's just that it's not that often these years that someone shows an interest in 2 channel sound. It's like it's too old fashioned or something. I love it and I'm glad you didn't post about (yet) another multichannel all in wonder setup. Who the heck on earth isn't or hasn't built one. (I know G'man and Jes, there are some hardcore to the bone left :) .)

I guess all I'm trying to say is it's great to see you have an interest in 2 channel and figured if you were really interested and wanted to take it to the next level, there are more than a couple in here that can point you in the right direction.

Bob, I just printed off your post and will use it to make some upgrades to my modest 2-channel system. Glad I stumbled upon this thread, thanks for the pointers and down to earth explanation.

Also, your advice wouldn't cost much, if any, money to implement. THANK GOD FOR THAT!!! Most of the advice you get here is "if you think your $250 speakers sound good, you should get some _____s for only $500!!!" :)
