Lsi15's - 8inch passive sub??

I just wanted to get everyones opinions on the 8 inch subwoofer in the Lsi15. Can this woofer actually handle 300 watts of power? How limited are you with the placement of the speakers due to the side-firing configuration? If any placement issues are valid at all? If I were to puchase these speakers I would be bi-amping them with 2 Outlaw Audio M2200 mono blocks (300 wpc @ 4 ohms). Would this destroy these speakers? At first I was set on the Rti12's, but I went to Ovation and had a listen for myself and fell in love with the beautiful sound the Ls series provides; however, if they cannot handle what I want then I will have to pass up this speaker and quite possibly Polk completely. I have also been looking at Paradigm and Klipsch speakers in and around the same price range.

In the first place you will never be throwing 300 watts at the speakers. They will handle the Outlaw with no problems. There may be placement issues if you are looking to put them in a narrow room. If you are just looking for loud, you are wasting your money on the LSis. While they will play as loud as most humans can tolerate, that is not their forte'. The Klipschs will make you ears bleed much more efficently."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

They seem to handle my Amp just fine. While I was able to find the limits of the LSi7's that preceded them, I have not hit the limits of the LSi15's yet. They do play very loud, but not party for 100 loud.

Edit - Just an FYI, When bi-amping, one set runs the tweeter, the other set runs both 5-1/4 speakers and the 8" woofer.
While it does produce plenty of bass, you would be hard pressed to call it a subwoofer in my opinion. (I know Polk calls it that - but for HT - you still need a separate sub.) Then again, maybe it could be considered a subwoofer since it goes as deep as most of Polks subs.....Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)
Center............Polk LSiC (Crossover upgraded)
Surrounds.......Polk LSi7 (Gloss Black - wood sides removed and crossovers upgraded)
Subwoofers.....SVS 25-31 CS+ and PC+ (both 20hz tune)
Pre\Pro...........NAD T163 (Modded with LM4562 opamps)
Amplifier.........Cinepro 3k6 (6-channel, 500wpc@4ohms) -
I was under the assumption that when bi-amping that the 5 1/4's and the tweeter were ran together, and the (sub)woofer(s) was ran seperately. Seems like a huge waste to just run a tweeter??? Why would a speaker even offer the ability to do this when the tweeter never even draws the critical amperage? Basically, the woofers have to move more air due to the longer wave lengths of the musical tones, thus drawing the critical amperage at "certain" "key" times with-in the musical recording or movie. If this is the case I may as well not purchase the extra 2 mono blocks for the bi-amping and just replace the gold-plated bars with speaker wire.

Because it is the woofers that draw the most power, but when the amp reaches its limits, it typically distorts the waveform and the tweeter is the first thing that blows. With the woofers and tweeters run on different amplifiers, there is less chance of this happening.
imo - while some think that bi-amping improves the sound, it is my opinion that it just allows you a little more safety when driving an amp into clipping. That is why I am of the opinion that you are better off just getting a single nicer amplifier rather than 2 lesser amps. (assuming you have a fixed budget for amplification.)

Well I am settled on Outlaw Audio for amplification; however, they do not have a 2 channel amp. I have done extensive research on their amps, pre/pros, and the company in general. I like what I have read. Not only for individuals, but from major audio/video publications. That being said, should I just get 5 of the mono blocks and not worry about bi-amping them. Just replace those crappy bars with speaker wire?

There is no sense i wasting 600 bucks on the extra 2 mono blocks if I dont need them; however, if I buy six of them I get the 7th for free and free shipping.. -
If you really want to purchase new, outlaw does offer great value. If you are willing to purchase used, there are many better amps out there you may be able to get. (just saying set your budget and see what is available for that budget. It may be outlaw, but it may be something else as well....)

Get an idea of what your budget buys used ... Go look at the multi channel amps on Adiogon & Videogon ... -
Well, actually I have decided to go with the 7500.. I spoke with an Outlaw rep., and they explained to me the A/B = G thing.. Basically it is just a better amp and can out preform the mono blocks.. The space issue wasnt/isnt really an issue for me.. Unless I happen to move in the near future, and the space gets to be more limited.
