Polk Rti10, Klipsch RF-82 or Monitor Audio RS8's?? No Demos
I can not decide on what speakers to purchase, I have been debating for almost a month and am trying to be patient, and in my area there is just very limited places to demo......and I hate chain retailers and they usually do not have current product lines here. I have purchased a new Marantz SR7001 avr....and I am looking in the future to add a 5 or 7 channel amp of 200wpc or more(didn't go sepreates for financial reasons and space).....I have ruled out paradigm, boston acoustics, or bose......any suggestions or pros and cons on my selections.........will I have enough power with avr to make rti10 sound good, or will they need the extra amplification?? Appreciate any help or suggestions.

I've always been a fan of Monitor Audio's stuff... and my dad was an audiophile back in the day--he too was an MA fan.
All Polk RTi and LSi towers are power hungry. Sound good? 110w isn't too bad. But they will sound BETTER with separate amplification. 200w+ specifically. -
Would you consider the Monitor Audio speakers to be on the same level of quality with the Polk??...I can get a good deal on the Monitor Audio stuff from a neighbor who is a dealer, and I am a bit skeptical of Klipsch because so many people comment on harshness or brightness of the Klipsch.

If you can get both for about the same price, I would without question go for the Monitor Audios. I wouldn't touch Klipsch with a 10 foot pole, on the other hand.
But don't take just my word for it. Go demo them, or at least get a few other opinions. -
I just went through the whole RF-82 vs Polk RTi debacle, very recently. I have owned RTi stuff before, and decided to go with a Klipsch RF setup without properly auditioning them. Big mistake. My RF-52 setup became an RF-82 setup, and ultimately those were all sold and I went back to RTi stuff. Big difference. TO ME, they sound worlds better. I "grew up" on polk sound, and the Klipsch just didn't work for me!"People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." George Orwell
