I went to Circuit City last night and really wasn't impressed with the PQ on these sets and they seemed to be pixaling real bad and I was wonderig if it was the way they were set up? They were using on most Directv HD and on a few Blue Ray DVD whiched looked awesome. Please direct me to the correct tv in you alls opinion!!!!!!!!!!

Since you are chosing a plasma 50"+ it will be able to display true 720p resolution. Obviously the two LCDs you have narrowed it down to have a native resolution of 1080p which is always nice. They are all great sets, the plasma has phenomenal black levels that easily rival those of a direct view CRT and the LCDs have the resolution. What type of content are you going to be feeding the display? Broadcast HD? HD-DVD/Blu-ray?// Panasonic AE8000 // Pioneer SC-57 // Polk Audio RTi A9 // Polk Audio CSiA6 //

Pioneer or a Panasonic..you cannot go wrong, but remember...they shrink a few days after you get used to 'em..get the biggest mother you can afford.

I've got the Samsung LNS4695D on the way (should be here Wednesday), so I'll let you know what I think when it shows up.
BTW- I went with the samsung since all the reviews I read said the current generation of samsungs were on par with the SONY xbr2's, but cost a lot less. Also, those displays are using the same panels as sony, out of the exact same factory.Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19

One drawback with plasma is power consumption. The biggger it is the bigger hog it is.
Also heat.Gear: Rotel RC 1082, Rotel RSP 1068 pre/pro, Rotel RMB1077 amp, Cayin CDT 15a CD player, S301 bluray.

I have the SONY 46XBR2, and love it. Best thing about it is you can customize the settings per input and you can turn on a high color band setting which makes the colors really pop. you will probably never see this at circuit city because they only use the predefined settings, and it is usually set to "vivid" which looks like crap. Also i was looking into the sammy, but didnt get it because it cannot do 1 to 1 pixel mapping with hdmi input. It also usues overscan which means it will crop a half inch or so of the picture on the screen so that you wont be viewing the entire video picture.
EDIT: take a look at these TVs at http://www.avsforum.com/Speakers: LSi9 x 2, LSic, LSiFX x 2, Velodyne HGS-15
Amps & Power: Rockford Fosgate T8004 x 3, Cascade Audio APS-55 power supplies x 5, and 1 farad capacitor.

Accessories: Anti-IC interconnects, 8 Mondo Traps from Realtraps, and Salamander furniture. -

Also heat.
This made me smile. Here we are with huge amps and power sucking stereo equipment talking about conserving power.
BTW... just FYI the Pioneer PDP-5060HD uses about 355Watts of power in operating mode. Taken from the article:

Unless you're using Class A or Tube amps, power consumption of AB class amplifiers is not so big at moderate volumes. Plasma TV's on the other hand is like a class A amp.
One test I read elsewhere had a 50" Plasmas being used in high action videogames eating 700+ watts. Rear projection TV's have the least power usage for large size screens.
If you're a moderate user it wouldn't hurt too much, I guess.
But it's still a great TV if the powerbill is not an issue.Gear: Rotel RC 1082, Rotel RSP 1068 pre/pro, Rotel RMB1077 amp, Cayin CDT 15a CD player, S301 bluray.

It went out via Eagle USA freight. I imagine 40" is about the limit for what you can do without stepping up to freight. My only complaint was that they had it at their warehouse in raleigh for two days & still hadn't called to schedule a drop off, so I called them up & just picked it up myself.
Amazon is an authorized retailer for just about everything they sell & I got that TV for $800 less than what Circuit City was selling it for last week, so I give them an A+ all around.
Oh- it was just in the samsung box. If someone dropped it, you'd probably be screwed.Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19

Well I wound up purchasing a Toshiba 47LZ196 for 3k tax and shipping included. I contacted a local audio company in my area and asked him what is the bet LCD's he has calibrated and or seen in action. He quoted the new Sharp 46'/52', Sony XBR's, and the Toshiba. I also asked him which one played SD the best and he said the Toshiba by far had a better pq for sd. He also told me to come to a job site where he was installing one for a customer so I could see one in action and I went and couldnt' believe the PQ on this set in SD and HD. Well to say the least I got it this Monday afternoon and watched the Bears/Rams game and couldn't get over the picture on this set and I haven't even got it calibrated. He is coming to my home on December 28 to install my surrond speakers in my ceiling and a set of outdoor speakers on my patio. I will update you all after the calibration.

I finally had my audio guy come on this week and finish off my setup and I couldn't be more pleased with it. I purchased the Eagles farewell tour from New Zeland and it's recorded in DTS Surround and it's a much purchase for any Eagles fan. The sound mix on this DVD is awesome and I couldn't believe the sound quality on this.

Well I wake up on on New Yeays day ready for the Bowl games and what do I get a complete black screen on the Toshiba 47lz196 so I go throught he manual and do all the trouble shooting they say to do and still a complete black screen!!!!!!!!! When you first turn it on you get a picture for a mili-second and then a black screen only audio no picture at all. So all call me audio guy on New Years morning and he calls me back and says he will come out and look at and he showed up about 1 1/2 hr. later and ran numerous test and also reset the factor settings and so forth still a black picture. So I have to contact Toshiba customer service in the morning to see if I will receive a new TV or send a service tech to fix the current one. I personally want a new set.
