That's the SL1000, Polk tweeter. I'm pretty sure that one could replace those with Peerless tweeters with no mods.

Yup... early 7C's used the 1000. Later C's went to the 2000. 1000's look like Peerless, but telltale is the "polk audio" stamped into their plate. Also the 1000's mounting plate was silver, but sometimes the flash will make the Peerless' blake plate look silvery.

That said... "... excellant cosmetic... condition"???

    Ummmm... no...

You have to give kudos to the description 's writer, though...he/she knows how to talk them up.

Yeah, no kidding. I mean they're good, but he's suggesting that these Polks have the best soundstage out there. I wonder if he owns a used car lot?

Using his unique designs Mr. Polk was able to capture the imaging and depth of field of the orchestra so stunningly, that when the listener closes their eyes, each and every instrument is precisely located in a three dimensional array on the soundstage before them. THIS IS WHAT STEREO IS SUPPOSED TO BE ALL ABOUT!

Over the years other manufacturers have tried every trick in the book to accomplish this. Complex “staggered” cabinets as well as electrostatic loudspeakers, costing tens of thousand of dollars have been created, but all have, in some way, come up short in this regard. And when they have come close to getting there, it has always been at the expense of something else, whether it be limited bass response, a sweet spot that allows only limited access to the sound stage, gross inefficiency or many other such problems.

Not so with the Polks. The frequency response extends both upwards and downward, past audibility in both directions. Bass response is deep and rock solid and the efficiency is such that even a proper twenty watt amplifier will deliver spectacular sound pressure levels and dynamics to match. And sound coloration, is almost non-existent throughout the full spectrum of audibility.
Lovin that music year after year.
