Just got my RTi8's

I considered the Klipsch rf-62 and the polk rti8's. I went back and forth at least a half a dozen times listening to both. The polks were just easier on the ears. I know this isn't any big news to the vets here, but I just wanted to say "hi" and say what a great product polk makes. Oh the speakers these replaces were the Polk R30's (which served me well in college, but now it's time for the big leagues- relatively speaking of course).

WOW............Christmas in November?………… You must have been a good boy!!!.........Welcome to CP and congrats on your new Rti8's. 8's are awesome speakers. Just give them a lot of juice and way you go. If you really want to hear them sing hook them up to a nice tube amp..........heaven!!!

BTW…………....8's need to break in, so give them at least 50 hours.

    Cheers

Welcome and congrats on your buy; the 8's are great speakers for HT; I suffer from the upgrade bug (you'll soon be familiar with this term.....), and the 8's have never been on my upgrade list....don't think they will ever be....

Congrats on a wise decision and welcome to the Forum:)
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

Thanks all! I'm in the process of getting the csi3 to complete the front. For the satallites I have two Bose cubes. I understand that the front three need to be the same line of speakers, but the rears are not as crucial as long as they are fairly close. It's the "fairly close" that I'm unsure of. I like the bose as they are extremely small. putting rti6's back there just won't work. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

If you can, get the CSi5; it makes a huge difference and you might want to upgrade later if you don't get it now.

On the surrounds.....I'll just say that you can get much better sound than what those little cubes can give you; if space is a constraint, consider in-walls.....

I just went the other way and bought the klipsch, i looked at a lot of speakers and had it down to the polk rti 8 and klipsch rf62 but i thought that the klipsch would be better for me as i use mine for mostly movies, had i listen to more music i would have went the other way as i thought polk was a better all around sound but for dialgue i really liked the klipsch. I'm still using my monitor 30's for the rear and sides and they do really well, i don't think i going to replace them any time soon.

I bought my RTi8s last December. I wasn't sure at first if they had enough "oomph" for my music, but once I upgraded my amp, my doubts were silenced. I just love these speakers!

I remember hearing the 8s in a well treated audio room and I was handily blown away by how good they can sound if you treat them right. Very very very good speaker for the money!!

    You did good!

    Welcome!

What's the ave wattage you vets here have to push your 8's with? I'm debating on just buying a separate amp to push it for music.

motohead1, congrats on your RTi8's... sounds like you like them right from the beginning.

I'd say to really push your 8's, start with 150 watts and above to really make them sing. (that is using an external amp, not a receiver).

    enjoy.

150 ok. I'm gonna start looking for an amp after turkey day. Anything in particular that you guys can recommend? I'd like to keep it as inexpensive as possible (yea I know, hard to do when it comes to music).

Yep, my 8's love the bi-amped Rotel feeding them 200+ watts. It was a huge step up from the H/K 635. :D

I second the motion for getting the Csi5, well worth it if you plan on watching a lot of movies. And nice work on the 8's! Great speakers.

    Motohead,
If you demo both the csi3 and csi5, I'm very sure that you'll go with the 5.
I have rti6s with the csi5 and completly love the sound that comes out.
