What's wrong with your RTI 70's that you are searching for something in the same generation?Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2

Nothing is wrong with my 70's. I love them. This audio disease, though, is really messing with my brain.
I am going to build a 2 channel system at some point. I'm not sure what I want to spend on it yet, so was toying with the possibilities. I do know that I will probaly use an ADCOM 545 with some sort of pre-amp. If I go on the less expensive side, I might try to find another pair of RTi70's since I absolutely love the 2 channel sound of them through the ADCOMs. On the more expensive side, I've thought about LSi15's (which I've never demo'd). I was wondering if there was an option for me in the middle. I like the tweeters on the RTi70's, so wondered if there was something similar to the RTi10's in the same generation. I finally found the web page I was looking for and it sounds like the RTi150's might be nice, but haven't done much research.
Do you have any thoughts?HT

Seems like a waste of money to me if you like your speakers for both HT & 2 channel. Be content with what you have & put that money into expanding your dvd & cd collections!Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2

I should clarify then.... The 2-channel system will be in my living room. The HT is being moved to the basement next week after the carpet goes in.HT

a_mattison, didn't I sell you those RTi70's about a year ago? BTW, I am still regretting that sale. I didn't think I would have room for them in the new house, and ended up buying a house that I put a dedicated theater in. I have experimented with some Klipsch reference speakers that I think I will probably end up selling. I just miss the sound (and look) of those cherry RTi70's. I had RT55i's prior to the 70s too, and am thinking about trying to pick up an old pair of those even.
Glad to hear you are enjoying my speakers!"People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." George Orwell -
Where in Roscoe are you at? I live in Rockford in the Rote Rd. and Bell School area.

No. I bought my 70's new a few years back. I think I hooked you up with my friend Todd who bought your speakers. He loves them. They are in good hands.HT

Welcome to Club Polk! What does the rest of your system consist of?Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2 -
i agree with the sound of the 70's, i think why they are so good sounding is that they are forigiving of placement, i move every year since im in college and no matter where they are they sound fabulous. i just got a pair of lsi7's for my room and they are pretty a bit more enjoyable to listen to but lack the rich mids and bass of the rti70's that ive come to love. som say the bass is lacking but i think its nice and not overdone and with a small sub to fill out the low end its perfect. id recommend just waiting it out and getting another pair of rti70's if youwant or you can try the rti8's which are out now but sound a bit brighter. if you like the rti70's try and go listen to the paradigm studio 40 v3. i fell in love with those. once i get those ill get rid of the lsi7's and be completely satisfied.

S@#t!!! Those are just a little ride down the road from me! i could even check them out before buying.
I have too many irons in the fire right now and too many things to spend money on. I am going to wait until the spring to plan and build my 2-channel rig. I really really really really wish I could buy these right now, but will need to wait. I'm sure there will still be more used speakers on the market in May'ish.
thanks for the link though!HT

Yep, wait Aaron. You havent even heard the lsis yet. Get your HT set and then start thinking about the 2-channel set-up. One thing Ive learned is never jump too fast until youve really decided what the goal is. Certainly if an insane deal comes up then all bets are off but, youre right there will always be certain Polk models FS."Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? My advice, since you already have a set of 70's, is to experiment with something else and expand the audio horizon. For that money you could find a pair of vintage speaker that, IMO, would sound much better than the 70's. Since it's for 2 channel you don't have to worry about matching surround speakers.
I would try to get an audition for those Paradigm 7's...the DQ's are a bit more expensive but worth a listen if you have a chance.

i dont think he would want the paradigm titans if he likes the rti70's due to the bookshelf's lack of bass and cabinet volume.
i would definitely go for the paradigm 7's though, they look cool and that is a great price for floorstanders to experiement with. definitely wont lose your money on those -

I ended up buying these! I really missed my old RTi70 setup! BTW, I looked at my old posts, and I think gshime bought my old setup.
So, today I bought these RTi70's, a set of FXi30's, a set of RTi38's, and a CSi30. Ya, ya, I want a CSi40, but the 30 will have to do for now.
