I am one of said Polkies.

I would love to hear the LSI9's.... Especially since Michele gave the green light for a nice 2-channel rig upstairs. ....Don't know if I want to drop the cash for 15's and might stay in the RTi realm, but would be interested in a listen.

Well I've now had about 2 weeks to spend with the 9's and do some serious listening. The best word that comes to mind is FUN! It's fun to listen to music again. These speakers are both extremely precise and forgiving at the same time. I find myself enjoying the music much more because I'm not in a constant state of analyzing the sound and discovering glaring issues.

Even on lesser recorded material the 9's are still FUN to listen too. I find even listening to the compressed signal of digital music from Music Choice, the cable companies music offerings, is very acceptable. And when I put in a gem of a recording it just goes up a notch or two. They are so open and airy and that Vifa tweeter is intoxicating. It makes it really hard to listen to lesser speakers. Vocals are lip smackingly real, true boxless and uncolored sound.

I'm so used to hearing resonance at certain frequencies like piano, some female vocals, brass, etc. It is at a minimum with the 9's and in some cases non-existent. The bass is nothing short of phenominal for a speaker this size. It's actually mind boggling to accept that the bass is coming from such small boxes.

I am throughly enjoying these speakers and have for the most part forgotten about the slight midbass hump (it's really recording dependent). I do have my sights set on the 15's perhaps in the future, but that would be selling the 9's short. I'm going to give them a year before I decide and if it keeps going this well they may be with me for a long time to come.

Good job there H9! Glad you like the 9s. They do have that enjoyment factor that you talk about, very engaging speakers.

When you upgrade to the 15s and you are able to position them where the bass doesnt mush, you will see how great the LSi series can be. Until then, enjoy the 9s.

Glad to hear you are enjoying your new 9's. Give them at 50 hours. They will open up even more. My 15’s have about 100 hours on them and just opening up.

Just for experience, try a good tube amp with them. When I got my 15's last September they were awesome with my Parasound amp. Then I got hold of 30 wpc Class A amp and the 15's are heaven. I don't listen to SS amp music anymore. Although 15’s are only 88db and 4 ohms they sound amazing with my tube amp.

If you get an opportunity to play your 9’s with a tube amp your jaw will drop! Oh…………I forgot, if you roll the tubes with variety of music you like the Lsi’s will be more airy and smoother than with SS amps. Well worth to investigate.

    Cheers
