LSi9's mixed with LC60i In-ceiling speakers?

I've asked this before on other forums, but want additional opinions. I want to purchase LSi9's and use them as my main (front) speakers along with the LSiC center channel speaker. However, for my rear surrounds, I do NOT want my rear wall looking cluttered with two surround speakers such as the LSiFX series. Instead, I want to install the LC60i speakers as my surrounds. If I can save up enough money, the new LCi-RTS100 speakers are also something I might consider. Is this a good idea using the LC60i's? Maybe I don't need the LCi-RTS100's if I'm using them only for surrounds? Any suggestions?

I would say since the speakers are all based on the LSI series, you would be just fine getting the LC60i's.

Does anyone have this setup where your rear surrounds are in-ceiling vs. wall mounted? More specifically, who has LSi9's with the LC60i's?

Cathy is spot on about the match.

Initially my 5.1 surround was comprised of LC265i in-walls for R & L front, an LC65i in-wall for center and two LC60i's in ceiling for rear surrounds. Then I went 7.1 by adding a pair of LSi7's and made them surrounds. They are on a shelf at the back of the room. The LC60i's are now the rears.

While the speaker in the LC60i's are angled and you can aim the tweeters to the sweet spot, I prefer the LSi7's on the shelf in a horizontal plane for rear surrounds rather than the LC60i's in the ceiling. If possible, consider installing the LC60i's in the wall. If you had some tall friends (or short ones with ladders) maybe they could hold them in different locations for you to try.

Just to clarify, the LSi9's will be placed on my entertainment built-ins that are approximately 7ft. from the floor. I will try to angle them slightly so they point in the direction of the main listening area. I know Polk suggests using a "door stop wedge" to place under bookshelf speakers that are placed above seated ear level. This is why I think the LC60i's will be perfect for surrounds. Then again, I'm by no means an expert on this stuff. Any other opinions?

What about the LCi-RTS100's? Anyone using these for surrounds?
