looking great so far.. perhaps this is the one that will land Scorsese his well-deserved Oscar for best director. Imo he's long overdue considering he's put out classics like Taxi Driver, The Last Temptation, and Goodfellas.

I'll go see this tomorrow on opening day. Unless something major comes out from now until Oscar time, it looks like this movie and United 93 are the frontrunners thus far.

This looks awesome. The only thing I'm not looking forward to is all the fake Boston accents. The movies just never get it right....

This one definitely looks intriguing. . . I'm just hoping it doesn't turn out like the last few "Dream Teams" where you have too many "me" guys wanting all the credit and not enough role players.

But, I think in this movie, Matt Damon can be a Robert Horry; doesn't need a big part through the whole thing, but will step up when given the chance. And, I don't see a Stephan Marbury or Baron Davis in the cast, which is also a good sign.

Hope it's good! Hope my basketball analogy made sense. . .

I saw it last night and being from boston i had a bit more appreciation for it. Despite the accents being WAYYYYYY overdone and rediculous, it was a great movie.

    The original all the way.

Even if Scorsese wins an Oscar, the source material will always be joined at the hip with this one. No matter how hard the creditors hide Infernal Affairs as it's source, cause in time everyone is gonna know The Departed is a "REMAKE" of an already modern day classic. Just like Seven Samurai and the Magnificent Seven ..........end rant

What is the brand name of the audio gear shown in Matt Dameon's house in the movie? It looked beautiful. Did anybody else notice it?

Yep, noticed the McIntosh gear.

Loved the movie, and mostly because they delved into the humanistic aspect of the characters rather than just seeing how many people they could kill. Kind of like the Soprano's in that respect only.

The accents were terrible on Matt Damon's end, but the others didn't bother me as much.

Must own DVD for me, and once again I am reminded why I don't go to the theater anymore. Ugh, eventually I'll learn my lesson.

Ha, Matt Damon's actually from Boston, so while the accent may have been a little exaggerated, that's about as close as it gets. :)

Thought the movie was fantastic though. Saw it in a theater out in Portland. I usually never go to theaters around here, but in the suburbia of Portland I didn't have a problem. Draw your own conclusions.

I know he is, but he also doesn't talk like that in his normal speaking voice, which is what is so amusing. He way overdid the southie accent. If you say it's spot on, cool, but it seemed the most ridiculous to me.

Gonna have to agree with Bobman and say Damon was the closest. If you lived in Boston it definately is easiest to associate the accent we have with what Damon was using.

And just for reference, I wouldn't so much say it's a "southie accent" as people from all over the Boston area have heavy accents. In and out of the city.

As far as being rediculous, yes the way people in Boston speak may be rediculous to you, but as far as I am concerned, everyone else in the rest of the country outside Boston speak funny and rediculous:p

See it in the theater or watch it on DVD the first chance I get?

Well, this is the first movie I have seen in the theater in probably 2 years. Take it for what it's worth. I will be seeing Flags of Our Fathers on Friday afternoon as well, so I would suggest that one be seen in the theaters as well.

one of the few best movies (of my taste) that I have watched this year, DVD or otherwise. Wait, that's explain why I like Sopranos and Goodfellas.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Anybody pick this up today? I think this is one that I will want to watch again. It kind of has a cool flow to it. I'm curious to know if there are any Bluray/hddvd watchers out there. What are your thoughts on PQ? I've been watching during the day and probably not the best lighting conditions. Still have not made up my "hi-def" mind. I'm only half way through.....dinner intermission;)

I saw the SD vesion last night, PQ was fair but the sound track was great, I don't know why but it was LOUD, very loud, I had to turn down my receiver 10dbs to get to a comfortable level, but this just may have been me. I have the HD DVD version on the way from Netflix it should be here tomarrow and I'll post back on the PQ. Now with all that being said this movie was nothing like I thought it would be, I spent the whole time tring to figure out what was going to happen next thinking that there had to be some kind of twist to it but there wasn't one, it was very staight foward what you see is what you get. Can't wait to see it again and just watch it and not set and try and figure out everything.

Just watched it. It sucked. My wife hated it, too.

The editing was choppy and the story lacked cohesion. It was about an hour too long.

Jack was a great villian, though. Good SQ. Otherwise, it was disappointing.
