can't get LSiC, LSI9s and LSiFX powered up
LSi25 (2)
LSiC
PSW1000
LSi9 (4)
LSiFX (2)
I have wired these speakers in a 9.1 configuration using a Denon AVR-5805MK2: Surround Receiver.
However, I can only get the LSI25s and the PSW1000 to come alive. In other words all the powered speakers broadcast beautifully but the other non-powered speakers are mute. Does this mean I need more amplification?

No, you either dont have wires connected properly or need to go into the menu and set the system up properly.
How do you know only the fronts and sub are working? What is your source? Is the receiver set on 9.1, Dolby Digital? If you are using a feed from a TV station many if not most are only broadcast in stereo. have you tried the test signal in the receiver for each speaker?
Edit, Nice speakers BTW and welcome to Club Polk CupCake.

Say that 10 times fast RT:DI never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. sounds like you gotta play with the surround formats. your in stereo only, perhaps stereo bypass. which powers the towers and sub if the mains are set to small. read that instruction manual, play a dvd you know is DD or DTS, and make sure the face of the unit indicates it is set to DD or DTS (digital formats). If I had more knowlege of that particular unit, I would be a better help, but I dont. your definitly running stereo only, and the processer set up is the problemLiving Room 2 Channel -

Thank you for your help. Guess I'd better read the MANUEL.

we watched a DVD, "Play it Forward" last evening and the powered speakers work just fine. I was waiting for a microphone so that I could do the auto setup described in the Denon manuel. however, sounds like i can tweak the settings without the microphone.
-
I know the manual is cumbersome but there is a ton of information in there that is essetial. I suppose you could wait for the mic, I believe they have some intuitive features as they go through the set up but its good to develop an understanding of your gear and not depend on just the mic.

Have you connected your DVD player to a digital connection or are you using left and right (white and red) interconnects?
-
Sami;
HDMI connection from DVD to Monster Power Center to Denon to T.V.

Well, someone who has this unit may need to help CupCake. I still believe you have a set up issue. The signal is not getting processed by the Denon. I suppose you can hook the DVD to the power center then to the Denon, but this does seem to be necessary.
Have you done the set up on the DVD player?
RT1 -
First, you might want to check the speaker wires.... Make sure they are matched (+/-) from both ends. Second, you can try to remove HDMI cables from the Monster Power Center (connect a HDMI cable directly from DVD to Denon)... Do you run a digital out (coaxial or fiber optic) from DVD to Denon receiver, too?

When you say "the powered speakers work fine" I am unsure what you mean.
On the LSi25s the only self-powered part of that is the sub. Are you hearing mids and highs from the 25s?
I agree with others that you must be in stereo or direct mode and not actually using any surround fields.

The amp should have a test mode to see if they are wired up correctly. Check the manual and activate this. You should hear white noise from each speaker in succession. If not, then there are wirinng issues. If you have success, then the decode is the issue. Also, some of these amps have a source select input. You may have the source selected as analog 2 channel. Try that after you conduct the speaker white noise test.
Good Luck!
