I am in contact with the seller on these speakers but am unsure which version they are so therefor unsure of what kind of offer to make. Any ideas on which they are?

    Hi Simm -

I believe these are 2b's (maybe the studio version?) for a couple of reasons:
    1. Looks like a "B" sticker in the small backside lable picture
    2. No "toe kick" area like the 2a's

In any event - I am sure someone will correct me if I am mistaken.

In my opinion they should go somewhere between $200 and $250.

    Good luck!

I think they are 2A's. The bottom skirt is there. The 2B's have no skirt only about 1 inch of wood between the floor and the grill.

Thanks for the responses so far. A couple more questions.

By "skirt" does this mean the wood between the grill and floor?

It looks to me like like the tweeter is a silver dome as opposed to the black tweeters- does this mean it is likely to be a SDA 2B? I have some Monitor 10's that have what looks like the same tweeter and they are 10B's.

The color of the speaker makes me think it may be the studio version- it looks like black woodgrain vinyl- did these actually come in a black real wood finish?

2B Studio version, as well as 2A, have the same basic (bezel) cabinet construction. 2B's (Studio) in black ash were pretty common. The end-capped versions are generally more sought after. They all sound great.

Hey Blue - thanks for the clarification. The black ash fooled me (not to mention that fact that I couldn't make out the "skirt"!).

Definatelty agree they all sound good. ;)

Those are 2B Studio versions in black ash vinyl, the only way they came, no black real wood veneer. The "B" sticker on the back is a dead give away.

The 2b's do not have an elevated base - looks more like a solid piece of wood one thick.

So what is a fair price for SDA-2B's studio? Is it in the $200-$250 range? I don't want to make a ridiculously low offer nor do I want to overpay. I have no problem with paying a fair price to try out the SDA sound. This would be my first pair.

Give me some pricing guidance you SDA gurus........

As I understand it there is no sonic difference between the Studio 2b's and regular 2b's so I think 200 to 250 for the Studios is fine. I just paid $280 for my 2b's but that was ok since they were local and I did not have to pay anything to have them shipped. I don't think you are out of line offering 175. Price is driven by demand - if no one else is after this particular pair there is no sense starting the bidding out too high....

The Bluebook is $210.00 and I'd say that's on the low side. They usually go for $300.00 or so. Your $175.00 offer is an insult. If not to the seller, certainly to the speaker.

OK - I admit that I insult my speakers from time to time. Just my way of trying to motivate them into giving it their best. :D

Seriously though - I didn't mean the 175 comment as an insult, more of "maybe you won't have to pay the full amount - start low".

If I offended anyone, I apologize.

Simm - I hope you are able to pick that pair up.

It's not really a pedestal, more like a lower face plate and yes, they are without question 2B Studio's.
