A pair of B&K products; AVP4090 prepro and matching 5 channel amp AV5000. MSRP $3800, I paid $160. Not mint and I need to replace 5 of the 10 speaker binds on the amp. I tested it in two channel only and it sounds pretty good, definately hi-fi and better than the amp is better than the Adcom 7400 I have on my HT room right now.

It definately was a find and the price I paid was low. I saw the preamp go for $375 in audiogon and there is an amp with asking price of $590. Are these fair prices for the items?

They are inline with non-working gear, you did just fine. Break out the soldering iron and get to work.

You always take a risk with burned up gear, but as long as your confident, it can be beneficial.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

They are both working besides the binds which he broke recently getting the amp out of his rack (stepped on the wires), the prepro is actually in very nice shape, maybe even 9/10. I was assured the channels on the amp are working, just the binds are broken. Replacing them shouldn't be too much work although I might have to open it up a little more. Those two channels with the binds intact are working great and sound that way too. The only other thing on the amp are few stains on it, nothing else.

I can't wait to try the prepro in DD/DTS this weekend. :D

I'm sure it is what it is, but when it comes to damaged gear, it's non-working in my book. Good luck with the weekend project, you should be fine.

So be it. I figured even if the other one was broken, it was still a great buy. Now I have a working high end DD/DTS prepro and at least 2 channels of good amplification for $160. All I need to do now is UPGRADE the bindings and hope the channels are good... ;)

Thanks! I can't find matching posts so maybe I'll just upgrade all of them while I'm at it. I think I'll keep this one depending on how it performs in the long run, a few hours on it and right now it feels the Adcom is going on FM unless I find other use for it.

That Russian **** also stopped by here and picked up some Paradigms too, in route to his B&K adventure. He rang the bell, I asked 'Bring the Skyline'?

'No, I brought the daily driver, Altima RS'

    Did I say **** already?

Hey, we Finns don't like Russians very much so be careful what you call me... ;)

The Paradigms are pretty decent, not as good the DQ10's but the bass is definately better (but tricky as you mentioned).

Back in the day when Motorex was still in the business. One of the first 5 in the country, delivered in early 2001. Last legal ones came in around 2003 IIRC so it was a short run.

They don't sell anymore but they still seem to have the pricing info on their site:

Finally got around to fixing the speaker binds. All channels work like champs, no problem driving any of the DQ10's, 11se's or LSi15's. I think these will replace my current HT setup (HK AVR7200 & Adcom GFA-7400).

More pix of the GT-R uploaded as well.
