Actually has 8 "real turbines" at about $1500 each! Took over 2 years to build. It has a wing span of about 22 feet. Takes multiple pilots, as there are so many things to control.

make sure you turn on the sound. sounds like it's bigger counter-part.

i assume you need special permits to fly this bich. and some type of insurance to own it? i'd hate to be liable for flying this one into someones living room! i'm sure you cannot fly it anywhere within city limits.

As for insurance, if you are a member of the AMA(Academy of Model Aeronautics),which is pretty much required at all flying fields, you have 2 million in liability insurance. In order for the insurance to be aplicable to a turbine powered model, you do have to get a waiver from the AMA. It is not that difficult to get though.

That monster may be out of the range of the AMA though. I know there is an upper limit as to the weight of any model the AMA will cover with their insurance. Never really checked into the weight restrictions becasue none of my stuff has ever been above 12 pounds or so.

They might have found a loophole, however, since they flew it in a different country.
