Let me me preface this by saying that I am a firm believer in the power of quality IC's and cables, so I don't mean for this to be a launching pad into the same heated debate that can be found throughout the hallowed archives of this forum...
Why is it that the performance of a well-made speaker cable is not hindered by the existence of jumpers (homemade, stock, or otherwise)? Is the length between the two posts so insignificant as to render any depreciation nominal at best? Any ideas? Just curious...
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down.     It may be, but not likely with such a short run. I think brass jumper bars are horrible in general. That's why it's best to connect speaker cables to the mid/treble posts, then jumper down to the bass posts. Always run your best wire to the midrange/treble.

    I've never seen a speaker done this way---though if it were, I'd re-think my wire configuration.

    Then run the cables into the treble and jumper down to mid/bass. The higher the frequency of the signal, the more likely it is to get noticeably degraded by poor quality connections.

    found this out when replacing the stock jumpers with DIY's.

    Two way monitors - for example my Tyler Acoustics Taylo monitors - are often set up this way. Top posts go to the tweeter, bottom posts go to the single woofer that handles mids and bass. The manufacturer recommends jumpering down to the mid/woofer.

    Of course, by default a 2-way would be that way. I thought he was speaking about a "tapered crossover" scenario. I'd probably just do a "proper" bi-wiring scheme in this case--no jumpering.

    the 70's are 3-way and "cascade tapered" according to the specs....

    That's what I figured, I'd fork up the bones and bi-wire them properly.

    I haven't been overly concerned with any depreciation in SQ since my jumpers and cables are both the same wire, but Signal Cable stole my heart recently... and if starting fresh, why not bi-wire? Hence, the original question.
