god knows while i don't mind pics of beautiful, naked women, there IS a serious double standard here. I mean I don't want to see naked pics of men, but TALKING- DISCUSSING a movie about two homosexuals (they're not even that if you look closer at what the film is trying to convey) or the issue in general- well there's nothing wrong with that as long as it's kept in a respectable manner. Although, I can defintely see the other side on the whole "respectable" bit as well. :cool:

This forum may be private property- but Justin, with all due respect to him, doesn't own it to my knowledge. He oversees it, and it seems to me that rules are being made up as we go along. If the talk becomes obscene, Justin is entitled. But simply discussing a movie or an issue for the sake of the movie or the issue is in no way grounds for termination- regardless of it's popularity or lack there-of among other members. Now if Justin gets his orders to outlaw even mentioning the words "BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN" or "HOMOSEXUAL" from say Matt Polk or the like, then of course I can understand that. I may not agree with it, but I understand it and out of respect for THEIR company will do as they wish, and do it with a smile on my face.

Of course I understand the argument that pro-choice fellows like myself and homosexuals don't own the forums either, and should show restraint. To my knowledge, we do. And so should the other side. When they don't, and they're not- it's a double standard, anyway you look at it. If one side will not only tolerate but egg-on the postings of half-naked pics of women (I was one of them until now) but won't allow the mere discussion of a movie, issue, or a portion of American society that's not in the mainstream, well that is just wrong.

As long as I don't act in a rude and or crude manner, present what's on my mind in a perfectly respectable and intellectual one- then I will continue to post what I think, until someone who actually owns this company and Forum tells me to cease. I am in no way showing disrespect for Justin, and his company is always welcome here- but damnit this is America, not **** Germany.

Well than, things should be evened out. If this particular topic is forbidden, than the half naked women threads should not be allowed either. Talk about it to your hearts content, but the pics should be banned!

it's worth watching. Only one scene was tough/uncomfortable for me to watch; "the first time" so to speak. But composure and Mr. OpenMind are my friends and I was ended up ok. All in all, an excellent movie. I live in a red-state for godsakes. During those "awkward" moments, no one got up and left- and almost everyone stayed for the rolling of the end-credits. That hasn't happened since 94 with Forrest Gump- no ****.

And speaking of the soundtrack- it's absolutely great, especially if you like acoustic and country.

I could be wrong but Justin closes down a thread when it becomes hostile.. or vulgar, or personal. As well he should. I'm sure he has his guildlines on what's proper in a forum and what's not. Sure we all have biases toward this or that.

I have to admit that we've all gotten away with a lot of stuff over the years.. and I think now some of that won't be tolerated anymore. I don't have any problem with that. I mentioned that nearly naked thread, only because ones like it get posted every so often.. and it's not looked at any differently in some peoples eyes as any other topic.

Some members here may not be interested in such scantilly clad women. Just like a lot would not be interested in nearly naked men either. So i hope there is some balance whereby we can discuss controversial movies or topics just so long as it doesn't become rude, vulgar, personal and stays on topic.

If the owners of this forum deem that wrong..than I and you will have to abide by the rules.

Afraid not. A few of us were talking about the movie, it's story and theme one time and out popped Justin to close the thread.

There have been a few threads that he hasn't just locked down, but totally deleted for even the mention of the movie and people were discussing it.

It's weak, both on Justin's part, and on those that aren't capable of processing other people's opinions.
