Do you think the SR series of sub will come close to the ****'s 32mm of linear 1 way excursion? Or are there any other 12" subs out there that come close to it? I am just curious.

I have no idea. They havent released any specs yet on the new subs.

I doubt the SR's will have trememdous Xmax as they are strictly an SQ sub which is great! One thing is for sure, theyll sound better than the RE!

Doubtful it'll come close to a ****, but I agree, it will sound better. The **** is not a SPL only sub, it is a daily driver that gets stupid loud, but it also sounds better than most of the subs on the market. But from my experience with Polks SR component line, I do think itll be hands down better in terms of SQ.

Just because a sub has long excursion does not mean it is not an SQ sub (not talking about the **** here but in general). The RL-p's from Soundsplinter are pretty clean sounding subs. While they do not have 32mm of excursion, 24.2mm of one way linear excursion isn't shabby. My 10" RL-i has 20mm of Xmax and it's one of the lowest distortion producing subs out there.

I read a review between the RE **** and the Sounsplinter RL-p12. I will try to look for it.

Yeah, and just because a engine is 572 cubic engines doesnt mean it cant get good gas mileage.

I have 25mm of one way linear X-Max on the driver I used in my scratchbuilt home
theater sub (motor structure made by TC Sounds) and it's extremely "Musical".

IMHO it has more to do with the quality of the driver, materials used, alignment of
enclosure, power fed and cleanliness of the signal it's fed.

Garbage In, Garbage Out, or something like that... :)
