Since RuSsMaN is getting pissy on his FM thread, I thought I would oblige him and start a new thread asking what DO you replace SDA's with?

    In all seriousness.

Ive heard SDAs and lived with them for a year or so off and on and I honestly have no desires what-so-ever to ever own a pair. They are cool the first few goes... but after that - they just arnt fun. To me they were very boring to listen to after a few months.

There are many other speakers out there other than SDA.

Why replace the SDA's with any of those other speakers when you've already found perfection!?! Sure some of them may do this or that better, but none do at all as well as the SDA.

No Russ, it's not. I've heard a good many of the ones on your list and I wouldn't take any of them over my SDA's.

Sure, they may be the last word for you, and maybe I'm reading too much into it - but you seem to generalize that they should be last word to everyone, and if you don't have SDA, you don't have good sound. That is simply not true.

I LIKE SDA's. I've had 2B's, CRS+ (2 pair), 1B, 1C, and the SRS 2's which I've enjoyed for several years. It's simply time for me to enjoy something else. I LIKE speakers, that's why I have multiple rigs. I guess for me, I 'demo' speakers in my house over the course of months, sometimes years. There are too many GREAT speakers out there, for me to sell out to only one.

    Cheers,
    Russ

I've started to enjoy speakers that are able to do things without the use of an effect. SDA is very cool, but it isn't the best, that's just silly.

Here's my take- there are much better speakers than the SDAs, but look at the typical prices for them... in sheer bang-for-your buck, SDA's are where it's at.. hell, any vintage Polks. Now, that's for most people... Russ is known for digging up insane deals on gear, so perhaps his buck goes further than most. I just know that for me, I'm liable to stay in the vintage Polk crowd for a long time coming...

So Doro and RuSs have decided to sell their SDA. Nothing to get upset about. Someone here just buy RuSs's and enjoy them. Their great speakers and really not costly. Both of these guys are on record in these forum's as saying SDA Speakers should be a part of any collection. Feelings change. I will be keeping mine, figure I always will, I love em, but who knows.......

I never stated that I'm selling my SDA's. I'll always have a pair handy, they simply don't get used any longer.

I'm also sure noone is upset, it's just audio.

I've found that improving upstream components dramatically improves the sound of the SDA's. So, for me, I will replace the SDA's when and if they becomes the limiting factor in my system. So far though, that has not been the case.

Blasphemous talk  :D . Actually to each their own and I'm sure your DT's are great. I've never heard anyone who had spent any time with a properly set up pair of SDA's call them Boring. Certainly are other fine speaks out there, but boring .

    IMO......of course :)

Hmmm.......You sold the ones I knew you still had SRS 2 and the CRS, well, heck you have so many boxes in that magic basement of yours who knows what lying around in there, or some place your "extra overflow" goes into.

If you mean not ever, then why not sell them? More likey, they dont get used any longer now.

    Yep, audio is fun.

Yes, there are tons of other speakers out there, something for everyone. Fortunately, I found the sound I was looking for, the one that sounds closest to the real deal, so my search is over. Good luck with yours.

Eh, too each his/her own...you know?

Is SDA end all/ be all? Of course not nor should it be.

Nothing wrong with listening to and enjoying different speakers. If we all had the same gear, how boring would THAT be? There isn't a 'right' or 'wrong' answer here....

I'm always trying to experience more gear. I wouldn't call that searching, as I'm not searching for anything aside from first hand experience with products, specifically loudspeakers.
