I have a Mustang LX coupe that needs new rear speakers and an amp. My 15 year old polks and rocford fosgate amp finally gave out. Anyway I am getting a pair of MMC570's and am looking for a decent amp.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

No doubt about it! This Orion amp cannot be beat. $125 for a $300 amp is an insane deal.

Thanks MacLeod. I searched the web and found IKE Sound has a refurbished 3002 for $66.

It's tempting, but what do you all think about buying refurbished.

refurbished by factory? i'd do it in a heartbeat for $66... refurbished by someone else? much more questionable...

Dude, never buy refurbished anything. This is a brand-spanking-new-in-the-box-straight-from-the-dealer amp for $125!

A wise man once said, "the sweetness of a low price is soon forgotten while the bitterness of poor quality remains".

Dont chince. Spend the extra $60. 1 year from now, youll be glad you did.

you think so, even factory-refurbished? cause don't those come with the same warranty as new?

No. Refurbished usually come with some limted 90 warranty or some other crap.

Also, refurbished usually means they go in there and stick some duct tape around whatever blew.

Either way, I dont care how good a job they do in reparing it I still feel much more comfortable in spending the extra bones and get the new product.

Looking further on their site, they basically warrant stuff themselves. They go on to say that unless you have proof it was professionally installed, they won't honor the warranty. In fact if you read the full page, they don't seem to fun to work with at all.

There is no substitute for a new product being cheap will cost your **** down the road always does. Im like this when i buy a product i like to buy the best product i can afford that way i don't have to keeping buy the same product over and over again.

Honestly, the only 2 dealers I will ever buy from online are SoundDomain.com and Crutchfield.com.

Both are fully authorized dealers of all they sell so you get the full blessing of the manufacturer, full warranty and you can be sure that youre getting new in the box and straight from the factory gear.

Sounddomain is the best for prices. They have sales and great discounts a lot more often than Crutchfield does but Crutchfields customer service is unmatched.

I have bought a lot of "factory refurbished" amps online with no problem, including ones from Ikesound. Just my two pennies, I know its definitely not ideal because you dont get the warranty.

Im sure there are several people that have scored big buying refurbs online from unauthorized dealers but I just think its a gamble.

Id rather spend the extra cash to have the peace of mind knowing I have 1st class goods.

I was just about to place an order for the new Orion when a coworker stoped by saying he had three amps gathering dust. It turns out he has the exact amp I had, a RF punch 45 along with a 75 and 150. He offered to let me have one of them cheap. I had the punch 45 for years and it always did a great job. I finally went out and looked at my old speakers and was surprised to see they are Polk MM6930's. I think I may get MMC690's since I already have the adaptors.
I always enjoyed my old Pioneer KEX-M900, with 6.5" polks in the doors and 3.5's in the dash driven by a RF 30 amp and my 6x9's driven by the 45. It always sounded clean and played loud enough for me.

I am just amazed at how good it sounded to me with so little power. It was all obviously ready to go at once. I lost half of the 45 and about 3 weeks later the Poineer died.
