I want to upgrade to Lsi9's and I need to sell my Lsi7's first. I bought them from madmax for $375. They are still in perfect condition. I have the manuals and the sticky feet if you want to put those on. Comes in the original box. Same price. If you need pics, let me know.

When you get your 9's I would be very interested in a thread or PM on how you feel they compare to the 7's. (with a sub in both cases) Not that I am planning to upgrade in the near future, but it is always nice to know what to spend your next bonus check on.... :)

    Michael

BTW - good luck with your sale...
    Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)
    Center............Polk LSiC (Crossover upgraded)
Surrounds.......Polk LSi7 (Gloss Black - wood sides removed and crossovers upgraded)
    Subwoofers.....SVS 25-31 CS+ and PC+ (both 20hz tune)
    Pre\Pro...........NAD T163 (Modded with LM4562 opamps)

YES! i'd love to see a direct comparo with the two. I think the 7's look MUCH better than the 9's - and since they're 6ohm, i'd think my lowly adcoms could drive them better than 9's- IF i upgrade from rti4's it would probably be with these.

They are ebony. I'm not going to have power issues considering my amp is 185 wpc with a 4ohm load. They are in pristine condition. I've only had them a few months I think, and I got them brand new from madmax. They are the old version though, so there are seams. But it doesn't really matter as much as youd think. The outline from the seam is kind of nice actually. I thought I'd hate it alot more but it didn't bother me at all.

I am looking for a pair of LSI-7s to fill out my 7.1 system. I am currently using LSI-15's, LSI-C and LSI-FX's. Just wondering if these 7's are still for sale. Thanks.

Sorry man. They would be except I can't upgrade to 9's now because of cash and I don't want to go without any speakers at all so I decided to keep them.

aa, your adcoms would make the 9's sing. No trouble driving those what so ever, so I say go for the 9's if you're going to upgrade. I know those will be my next purchase.

except for SLIGHTLY lower bass response and overall darker sound (ohm count?), I agree with Madmax. Lsi9's look tacky with the grills off.

Lsi7's on the otherhand look classy in their simplicity. I've always been a bigger fan of authentic 2way 'monitors' rather than their 2.5 counterparts.

Why do you guys like the 9's better? Is there really that much of a difference in sound besides bass response?

    Beardog, wanna trade 9's for 7's + $? lol

A direct comparison in a real world room would be terrific. Make sure to post a few pics of the room setup.
I think you will find that the 9's have a clearer and deeper low end, and less straining highs IMHO.
    Most importantly have fun!

Reguarding the low end are you thinking running both with a sub crossed over at 80hz (or so) that the lows would be better with the 9's or are you thinking without a sub in the mix at all?

I would not expect the change you mention in the highs, but since I have not done the direct comparison, I cannot say you are mistaken.

I would be very interested in this test - someone out there must have 9's for fronts and 7's for rears and can perform this test for us.....

When I compared the two I noticed that the 9's went slightly lower but lost the wonderful midrange that the 7's have.

Please expand more on this topic..

This could save me several hundred dollars as I was planning to upgrade from my RTi8's to 9's in the near, near, near future. I am planning on doing a instore comparison b/n the 7's and the 9's but would love to hear more real world experience.

Listening for yourself is the best. Others here have picked the 9's over the 7's in direct comparison.

My guess is that if you like lighter music you will probably enjoy the 7's more.

    Maybe beardog can expand more??

i liked the 7's better soundwise in an A/B comparo- BUT it WAS at a Tweeter store so take that with a grain of salt. Amp quality was not an issue either. To my ears, the 7's opened up more in the midrange- and admittedly it was the midrange that was what I was focusing on the most in the comparo. Maybe the 7's had more time to break in, who knows.

Be that as it may- i'll assume they're both equal. the 7 sounds clearer in the midrange, the 9 has more bass, and they sounded the same in the high range.

Considering anything less than 60hz is irrelevant b/c i have a sub, and as how the 9 looks grotesque with it's grill off, I would choose the 7's without a moment's hesitation. Regardless of the price difference.

Although I didn't try a sub with mine I've heard that the 7's and sub can be matched together easier than a sub with the 9's. Something about the 7's dropping off slower than the 9's which drop off quickly? (I may have that last part reversed, I forget). Never tried either with a sub though.

I agree with the above comments..

The 7`s have a better, more pronounced midrange...IMO

but if your running a sub, and crossing over to take the bass out of the speak, they both sound great..

The 9`s do fill in a little more, but I think I like the 7`s a little more than the 9`s so far

I`m still doing a side by side to see if my initial thoughts hold up...
I should have the house to myself this weekend and I can do a better comparison with and without sub...I`ll let ya know what I find out..
