World's Smallest Tube Amp?

From Gizmodo :

This 4-inch x 3-inch analog amplifier, with 1 watt per channel, is intended for studio use or “with small sound sources such as iPods, mini-disc/cd players and laptops.” Perfect for when you want to get that good old tube amp sound out of the Fraunhofer compressed music stored inside your digital portable audio player. I tend to think the IMPAMP’s appeal is as much about looking retro-chich by showcasing it on a desk or bookshelf (it even has glowing blue LEDs that pulse with the sound) as it is about the warm rich sound it will extract from an iPod. Reason enough for me! $545. Don’t miss the videos.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

I wonder if people saw the success of the sonic impact t-amp and applied that to tubes with a bigger price tag. Those little tiny tubes are hillarious. Hey with one watt you can do quite a bit.

Neat, but why does anything these days start at 400.00 bucks and up... specially tube related.. Big names fine, small unknowns need to earn that huge price tag.. Like the people modding T-amps and wanting hundreds of dollars... legal robbery

Id love to try that out, for 40 - 100 tops... 525 shipped.. forget it

People will pay large for novelty things. How many people really run their "hi-fi" systems off an ipod?

I wonder, especially because I thought Hi-fi meant "Not an iPod"

I'm guessing it is supposed to appeal to those that want quality sound in a small package. Sort of how bose sells all their stuff. They have a market and they cater to that crowd.
