I'm trying to sell my srs sda's again I live in Phoenix AZ. these are the speakers that Brett looked at some time ago. According to some of the people on this forum my crossovers are not working correctly when the interconnect cable is connected otherwise they play loud and clear without cable, Don't know if it's a major fix or something simple. I figure $1300.00 is a fair price. Only reason I'm selling is I have medical bills to pay for my son.

speakers sound kick **** normal stereo, hook the cable up and you get a lot of midrange, that's how they sound to me, never heard a pair in good form so I would not know the difference.

ummmmm. when i first got my SRS's. I too thought they had "to much" mid range... i hated the sound.. then it grows on you.. and now everything sounds in balance to me. Don't ask me how it happens.. it just does. now i like the sound... except the SL2000 (tweeters) can grate on your nerves.

Seeing as you only have four mid drivers working in each cabinet with the cable disconnected I could see why you would think there is more mid range with the cable connected when you have all 8 per cabinet working.

    Robert,

Check your interconnect cable. I had a bad one and the left SDA drivers wouldn't fire.. so the sound was very lopsided. replace them and check the SDA cable.

Placement in the room will also affect the mid range sound. Move them if you can away from all walls. a good 4 feet on each side. and I found that about 6 to 8 inches from the back wall works best. I placed them against the wall first.. and it sounded kind of flat.. then i moved em way out into the room.. and the sound field was weird. so i settled on about 6 inches from the back wall. and now I no longer have to much mid range bass.

they may appear to be working. but without the cable in place i don't think the SDA mid drivers will be working. I could be wrong. I've only had my SRS's for a few months.

Someone else in here would know the correct answer. I think though if you disconnect the SDA cable.. the SDA drivers don't move. I had a tough time verifiying this myself. It appeared they were working, when in fact mine were not when i had the SDA cable unhooked.

They are moving because of the a sealed design of the cabinet. I assure you, they aren't working. They may even have a little sound....but you are simply hearing the other drivers response.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Those speakers did sound incredible without the cable connected.

If I remember correctly, with the cable connected, it sounded very hollow/echo-ish sounding (kind of like a Dance Hall effect on a AVR).
