    Yeah....I feel like crap for contributing to their success. Ebay is a way cool thing but it's getting out of hand.

    I was just looking through their rules for fees. I was thinking why wouldn't/couldn't people just charge high shipping to avoid their fees. I think you would still get hit with the overall cost anyway if you used PayPal to pay. I found this on eBay's rules:


    Unreasonable shipping or handling costs - Listings with low prices but unreasonably high shipping or handling costs.


    Anybody have any other alternative auction sites? Do they work?

    For audio equipment Audiogon is hard to beat. $4 fee per posting. No extras, no BS. I've found that ebays fees make it impossible to sell without a loss. (I'm considering a loss at anything below 50% of msrp for reasonable items). Fees for listing, extra for photos etc, final fee, paypal. By the time you are done you are looking at quite a lot to sell an item.
